  • nooby transmitter advice :)

hi guys im new to this forum i just bought a second hand trex 600 nitro super pro in mint condition but it needs a transmitter and receiver should i get a dx6i with receiver or spend a bit more and get a dx7s with receiver

thanks in advance for any help or advice

Both will work fine when you get to the stage of requiring a governor the extra channel of a 7 would be handy.

But remember you can always upgrade the radio later
    All the best
    Tony.

If you have the money you could always go straight to a DX8. I changed from a DX6i to the DX8 quite quickly and I've not looked back.

      Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum. I fully agree about the DX8 if your funds will stretch. If not I'd definitely go for the DX7s over the DX6i. When you're at the stage where you are wanting to put a governor on the heli you'll be kicking yourself if you haven't got that extra channel.
          cheers,

The extra channel on a DX8 might also come in handy if you ever want a remotely controlled glow plug, switchable from your transmitter. As others have said, all of these transmitters will do the job well but the DX7s or DX8 will have a bit of extra mileage in the long run (plus the extra features of the 7/8 such as telemetry are well worthwhile). Really it all depends on how much you're happy to spend.

DX8 works even down to 6 channel receivers so you can take your pick really. Do read the small print though as there is one early 6 channel won't work with these transmitters. Anything from AR6110 upwards (top of my head) is fine. Really saying that you can buy as many (8) or as few (6) channels as you need

I've my DX 8 for over a year and had no probs at a later date put a lipo in and the charge lasts forever.
The only problem now is you won't be able to stop spending money welcome to forum.
                  Cheers Dave M.

If you are new to the hobby i'd strongly recommend you get someone to show you how to set it up and buddy lead you, a 600 is one scary son of a bitch. I would go for a DX8 and a DSMX sat set up.

You really will need it set up and make sure you are there so you can learn how to set your helicopter up, Your first few flights should definitely be on a buddy lead no matter how good you are in a sim, a 600 will easily put you in hospital if not worse.

And if you want a laugh you can laugh at my first experience with a rc heli, Raptor 30, similar size to 600 maybe a tad smaller, I got this heli bound my tx and THAT WAS IT!!! no setting up or nothing, I just expected it to fly, lent over fire her up, fortunately I had hold of the head and it started on full throttle I was able to stop the head from spinning but no matter what I did on the TX I just could not get it to stop running on full throttle, I even turned the TX off (-:

So I waited for five minutes whilst this rappy killed itself, all the time holding the head I could barely breathe because of the fumes.

Thankfully I have come a long way since then but those big helis really are scary mofo's
