Is there anybody near me? (St Andrews/Dundee)

Please don't follow these lessons. The author advises flying around yourself as a part of the training, which is utter stupidity.
    Here is a good site:
    chadrg.com

He goes really quick, so take your time with each video.

Good luck with everything and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Hi Sam, ordered the dynam 6ch flight simulator handset which uses the free FMS, problem is that I only use a netbook (acer aspire D250) and don't think it would be up to running phoenix or realflight. Would be interested to know if anybody has either of these running on a netbook?

        Cheers

Smacktalk 101 videos (first two or 3, the last one is about autos) are worth getting as well. Bobby Watts demonstrates the basics and he is really encouraging and comprehensive.

Also, drop the training gear as soon as you can take off and land consistently - FF with training gear sucks.

Well, it won't happen in a day, keep trying It takes time, but he shows everything you need and progression order is perfect. It does require a lot of practice. First 2 or 3 (can't remeber) are really just basics.

Not very impressed with hobbyking, ordered some stuff (servos, metal tail, tools) and after a week still not shipped. tried contacting customer services (email, online chat & telephone) no reply and emails bounced back. Fortunately paid by paypal, raised issue with paypal and order now showing as cancelled as of today (still waiting on refund which won't be a problem as paypal on the ball).

It has actually worked out ok as HK 500GT CF alloy kit came with metal tail which looks pretty robust and threadlocked in all the right places. Just need to order my MG930 servos from UK supplier when I get refund.

Well, while waiting on various bits arriving for my 500GT from Hong Kong I have splashed out on a DX6i and a MCPX V2, have set the DX6i up and spun up the heli but too nervous to lift off. Going to start Radds flight training tonight. Question; should I add some expo or should I learn without it? Does anyone experienced use expo or is it just a learning tool to slow down mid stick response? I'm not wanting to use dual rate to limit travel as I would like to learn with full cyclic range.

                      Any thoughts or opinions?

                      Cheers

Nothing wrong with a bit of expo. Everyone has their own views but personally I'd recommend it for a beginner, and I'd also suggest using your dual rates to lower the cyclic range a bit so the heli is nice and calm. It's really all down to personal preference and what kind of feel you like but no reason not to use expo regardless of weather you are a beginner or a seasoned flyer.

I would agree with using a small amount of expo as it will make centre stick less twitchy. I personally wouldn't use D/R but its entirely up to you if you want to or not. I always think of D/R on a heli as having to learn twice as the heli will be nice and stable with it on & then mental without it! I would suggest you lower the negative pitch to about -4 at most so that when you panic (and you will) you don't slam the heli into the ground at full pitch which will end in tears!
