After doing of looking about and reading on different threads these are my options

    Blade 120 SR with a DX6i

Blade 120 SR RTF - Again with normal
transmitter ( So could be a nightmare)

Blade Msr x RTF- Ive read mix reviews on this one. Seems some people love it and some hate it Loads of issues and not flyable with the in the box transmitter.

All these choices i really am stick

As a fellow newbie here is what I have done:

Bought a DX7s but your DX6 will be fine
Bought Phoenix simulator which is brilliant
And finally bought an MCPX to bind with my DX7s

I feel the above will give me an adequate start and enough basic skill to ensure I don't write my raptor 50 off on its maiden flight.

Ive had noticed in some video's ive watched the guy was being able to make a Msr or a 120 sr Hover with no movement on the controls. How is he doing this.

They both are using a DXi system dont know if its a DX6i or a 5 but is this coz of that ??

No you should be able to hover quite well anyway once you've trimmed it up
And I think I remember you saying you wanted somethin more for outside- was that right? If so I dont think you can go far wrong with the 120SR and DX6i combo (is that from kings lynn models?) £178.98. Especially with the amount of windy days we have in this country!
My tail booms have arrived today so I can get flying again, WOOO!

Hi, as i have been into heli's for about 12 months now.....still a noob but here's my 2 penneth worth.
I bought a complete used kit off fleabay from a local guy....Trex 450se v2, DX7, cases, spares etc....it wasn't cheap but i know i'll have it for a while. This setup was recommended by a mate who has been flying for a couple of years. I'm not suggesting you should by any means splash out but i was fortunate enough to be able to at the time. The DX7 is all you'll ever need therefore worth the purchase. It'll cope with heli's, plane's and other rc stuff. If you wanna sell it later you should have no problem.
Regarding heli's, the Trex450 i have crashed twice but repairs were minor and parts readily available n cheap. They say the bigger heli's are easier to learn with and you can tame them down with a computer transmitter (DX7). I later bought a used MSR off fleabay and that was super cool for a micro heli...setup properly and it'll hover hands free and bounces well too!!! . Loadsa parts available and cheap. You don't need a RTF ('Ready To Fly' with transmitter as a DX7 works great). BNF....'Bind And Fly' to transmitter is easy....loads of videos on youtube to help. I got rid of the MSR recently (sold easy on fleabay) an put the extra for a MCPx as my skills developed. Also got a used Raptor 50 for a steal (large ish nitro which i havent flown yet.....roll on spring!!). Point is buy used and if / when you upgrade, sell your kit so upgrade wont be as expensive. The consistent is the DX7 transmitter....a little complicated to program for a newbie but you'll get it. Laodsa help again on youtube.
Another major help was Pheonix sim....off fleabay again.... helped me with nose in hovering.
To cut through the crap i just spent 5 minutes typing ....get the MSR....there is probably someone on here will be willing to sell one....buy used and if you can get a DX7.....
The cheap £20 heli's and transmitters wont do you any favours..
Hope even a little of this has helped.

                Regards.
                Cheers all.....Karl...

That was my dilemma, I even emailed Kings Lynn for a quote for a package but they didn't reply. Ended up getting the dx6i from them, plus the mSR-x but got the charger and batteries from fast lads as they were out of stock at KL.
Cost around £200.00, all in, in the end though, if the mSR-x was bundled with a dx6i RTF I reckon they'd make a killing.
                    Eh?

To be honest mate, I'm not really qualified to reply, this is my first ever heli that isn't a co-axial infra-red jobbie.

Straight out of the box, with dx6i on stock settings, it's a real handful for me and I quickly got frustrated with it as my longest flight was well under a minute.
A forum member set up my dx6i to really dumb down the settings which helped a lot and it's now a lot more controllable. Still far from easy to fly though, as a beginner, but probably more akin to flying a bigger bird than the co-axials.

It does seem that the dx6i is so progammeable that you could get it to do pretty much what you want, I was playing around with settings the other day and had it so calmed down it would barely lift off the floor!
I'm hoping my new spares will arrive today so I can get it flying again (took it outside Saturday morning whilst still dusky to see how high it would go, didn't end well...)
                        Eh?

The DX6 and DX7 transmitters are similar in the fact that they are both programmable. The DX7 has 7 channels tho as opposed to the 6 on the DX6.

One thing....by checking the specs of your current heli and the MSR is that the MSR is about half the size of your current heli. Your heli is a co-axial i.e 2 rotors spinning in opposite directions to counteract the torque of the rotors. How did you find flying this anyway? It may be that you just need a better quality co-axial heli such as the eflight blade MCX which is another co-axial but better quality and spares available.

If / when you get a single rotor you will find this more unstable.....fact.. it's just that the blades on the MSR are a fixed pitch (angle) therefore the speed of the blades spinning give the lift. When you get up to an advanced level heli (CCPM) then the speed of the rotors is more or less is fixed and it's the pitch (angle) of the blades that changes and the more pitch you give the more bite they produce therefore more lift.

The best way i have had described flying a heli is 'like a marble on a plate and your trying to keep it in the centre while jumping up and down'!

The MSR is a intermediate between a co-axial and a full CCPM heli (Cyclic/collective pitch mixing).

Your GT heli has a rotor diameter of 450mm, the Blade 120SR has a rotor diameter of 320mm. The MSR has a rotor diameter of 180mm. Both the 120SR and the MSR are fixed pitch.

Anyway you look at it expect to spend about the £150+ for this kit. Everyone's situation is different but if you can buy recommended kit to start with then it should last you.

                          Good luck.
                          Cheers all.....Karl...

Thanks for your input i found it ok once i got the hang of it. I can happy fly it around the living room ( The issue i have is alot of super glued bits and no one in the uk stocks spares and the battery doesnt seem to last any longer then 5 mins and takes 60-75 mins to charge) i enjoyed flying it when its charged etc but im now looking for something that is abit better supported and gives me a challenge

My budget is about £160 at the Min but i get paid next week so could be more lol.

All these choices and so much kit

Not sure if the msrx is any bigger than my older msr but heres my msr and 120sr with a coke can so you get an idea of size.
