  • Tail wagging now... (mSR-X again)

Following crash number 4632, the tail now constantly wags when in a steady hover. It didn't do this before, it happened following a crash.
I've checked the obvious things (no obvious bits missing, tail rotor firmly pushed on, recalibrated the gyro by refitting the battery whilst it's on a level surface) so can I assume I've damaged the onboard stabilization system?
    Eh?

    Hi

I bent the tail rotor blades in a crash and it started wagging (and buzzing as the little motor worked harder). bent them back and all ok.

Worth looking at or try the spare in the box.

If still no good and based on what I have read on multiple forums it could be the tail motor giving up

Thanks Smiley man, tail rotor seems OK but I think I've fixed it. Did some Googling and apparently any small vibration can set it off. I had a good look and one of the servo connecting rods was bent. Straightened that and it seems better but I'm not entirely sure as I crash it every few seconds...

Going to give up on flying it indoors now as I'm going to wreck it. Need a Sim and some instruction methinks
      Eh?

I crashed like crazy at first. What I did was flay it over bed. As soon has I lost control I throttle down and switch to throttle hold (learning this) and let it crash on the bed.

Now I can hover ok'ish I am back in the front room. The following made it far easier for me.

EXP +30 on Elevator, Aileron and Rudder.
          Throttle Curve of 0-35-50-65-90.
Mix Rudder>Elevator (Work in progress but better)
          +60
          +30

The tail rotor looks to be absolutely fine, but I will change it when I next have a go (Wife is running out of patience now so i daren't fire it up again today) just in case it has damage I can't see.

Thanks for those settings Smileyman, I did start off trying to fly it over the bed but there just isn't room. Maybe with those settings dialed in it will be a little less skitterish. I'm struggling to get my head around programming the controller though but a local member has offered to help with that so I've dropped him a pm
            Eh?

Makes it a lot less skittish for me. The mix is very much a work in progress. Can not piro with it but can now turn 90o left and right without it thinking its a pool ball. (Left is the worst)
