  • E-Bay Align 450SE V2

    Hi

I'm considering buying an Align TREX 450SE V2.

I have noticed there is occasionally some on e-bay for sale for a lower price than the shops, but I'm wondering whether these are just cheaper copies.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300151971894&ssPageNam e=ADME:B:WNA:UK:12

Is the Align being copied and if it is, how can I tell the difference between a genuine one and a cheaper copy?

    Thanks
    Regards

Yes, the Trex450 has been copied many times - but to the best of my knowledge, there's nobody actually trying to sell a copy as the real thing.

That ebay sale you linked to was no cheaper than from Real Raptors, for example. And you get some excellent service from the likes of Andy, and several other reputable dealers out there!

    Just a thought
    Cheers,

      Hi Rob

The e-bay sale of £320 also included a Futaba EXH transmitter & receiver !!!!

Surely, the 450SE V2 must be a cheaper copy ???

      Cheers

The one you refer to IS the genuine article-yes you get futaba gear thrown in but I bet you will get NO help or advice from that ebay seller regarding setting up, installation,etc... take it from someone who's been there, better to buy from someone who at least cares about what they sell......

            Someone got a good deal
The gyro, servos, battery and Tx/Receiver would be back on ebay the next day if that person were me...

            This made me chuckle
This helicopter will be setup by a professional.
            A professional what?
            LOL

              Have a look here :

It seems they are doing deals in Hong Kong with that setup. Obviously people are importing them and selling on for a profit.

I was watchin this, & thinking just that
My V1 airframe would have joined 'em.
That 'Bid now' button kept winking at me!

Rob, are you saying the gyro, servos, battery and Tx/Receiver are no good?

If so what transmitter would you recommend (without spending a fortune)?

                  Cheers

On a Trex450 (or any small size electric heli) I would only recommend a 2.4 ghz radio system these days. 35mhz presents too many potential glitch issues to really be seriously considered.
At £189 from inwood models (basic kit, no servos), the Spektrum DX7 is an excellent choice.

The servos with that kit would probably get you up and running, but I personally wouldn't be looking to get up and running, I want performance straight away, so they would be no good.

The gyro is utter rubbish - in my opinion it should not be legal to sell it as a gyro for helicopters. Harsh, but fair!

The LiPo charger is likely to be poor quality too. A good quality balancing LiPo charger is a worthwhile investment if you want to make your LiPo packs last.

To say all those things are no good isn't quite right - the 6exh transmitter has it's place for sure, but as I mentioned, I personally wouldn't recommend anything outside of a 2.4 ghx radio system on small electric helicopters.

                    Cheers,
                    Rob
