The question that occurs to me is, why would Century be selling this "Trex competitor" when they already have a "Trex competitor" in the mini-pred...

ditto: as said before the mini Pred is toilet.

This I believe is going to rock some heads pretty hard, all alloy, everything built ready, OK a cheap TX and receiver is added to get you going, but your have the chance say six months down the line to upgrade to a Spektrum control system.

I feel after watching the heli market for over a year it's going the same way as the telescope business went ten years ago.

Back in 1997 the average astronomer was stunned when they could afford a 4" refrector for under £1000 those type of telescopes even the Acro lens types were the objects of dreams.

Now you can buy a 6" complete system for under £600, looking at the bigger picture RTF's are going to get better as the competition grows, which in turn prices will start to drop, as flying a heli like my BCX2 ten years ago you'd be outlaying over a grand.

I think 2008 is going to be quite an exciting time in the heli flying world, as no one can call this one plastic rubbish.

                      Scratching post at the ready.

                      Well, I like it

I'll buy it and use a marker pen and write Trex on the canopy. happy in the knowledge it has as much alloy as an Align when I crash.

                        ROFL
Make sure you can get spares for it...
Perhaps they are interchangeable with the Trex450 SE V2?
In which case, when you crash it, you can replace those original parts with SE V2 parts and eventually build a decent 450 - slowly... over time

Just cos it is made of Ally and not plastic doesnt make it good.

It may wear out quickly and be full of slop. Could even be heavy

do you think them releasing this is them officially admitting that the mini pred is "toilet" ? i feel a law suit coming on. :-)

this is a nice coincendence i had a phone call today from a local guy that has bought one of these and wants me to check it over.

a little research is encouraging that the airframe stands a chance of being ok. its worth noting that its no trex se V2 tho as it doesnt appear to have thrust races in the head.

thats the trouble with copying your always one step behind.

the thing im really concerned about is the supplied electronics. im not looking foward to this!

hmm just realised i pointed the guy at heliaddict so hes probably reading this at the same time you are...

erm.. yeh im sure it will work fine... :-)

As I say I'll possibly upgrade to a Trex next year if the bugs still there, and I'd get one tomorrow if I wished, but there's no winning for the small man who I try and always fight for, here's a heli with all the right parts and still without any evidence it's now too heavy as it's alloy or full of slack.

Not to be out spoken here and with respect, you should change this forums name to the "Trex or above friendly forum", I dread to think of all those who can't afford elitist machines that have come here and given up before they start.

There are nicer ways to give advice rather than the same old "is it a Rex narr, it's crap then.....

Christ my photographic forum would be up in flames if people called the cheaper camera owners equipment crap just because it isn't DSLR!
