As someone who owns neither and has no interest in owning them I do have some experience of both.

I was unfortunate enough to witness the build of Trevor Burleys Hawk 50 which was won by him at Clubman. In all honesty, junk comes to mind......and it's not often I get passionate about bashing a product but the Hawk 50 really deserves it. Out of the box it basically won't fly.....washout wouldn't move on the shaft, bad fit of components, tail pitch slider jammed on the shaft.....the list if things wrong with it was astounding. If you buy one be prepared to have to work on it a lot to make it fly.

Can't argue it's cheap but would I buy one......hell no.

Raptor 30, not without it's faults but an alltogether better heli, you get what you pay for and all the parts fit and run smoothly out of the box.

Get a Shuttle instead.... (sorry had to throw that one in)

If you want a decent flying 30, forget the raptor, and the hawk, there is only one, and its the Sceadu..... (just a shame about the side frames alegedly.... but hay ho....)
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                  And a DX8 too

the best flying 30 is a 50. so cheap and something you can grow into over time.

if you talk to anybody that owned a 30 and progressed onto a 50 you will see that they regret not getting a 50 in the first place.

We will have to agree to disagree (again) on this one. I have been advised against going to a 50 because of increased fuel, running, and crashing costs. I am happy with my 30, it does everthing I want it to do, and will do everything I will ever need it to (I have seen it done).

                            Shoot him/her, obviously doesn't have a clue

Seriously, 50s cost a little more in fuel but crash costs are so similar it's not worth beefing about. However, flying wise 50s are way better which far outweighs the little extra in fuel costs.

just like to add not only did I regret going 30, I regreted buying secondhand from an unknown source as it cost me way more.

but on the optomists side it got me flying

Well, I take what you say on board, and I am off to find a gun to shoot the people responsiable for saying I don't need a 50 yet, but one of them might get me with a hellfire first, and the other well it might put a spanner in the works this weekend if he gets shot....
