I use a mixture on cyclic but mainly pinching both sticks .

Amazing flyers fly any way, it does not matter, give each way a good week or twos practice in the sim and see what you feel most comfortable with.

You may have to shorten the sticks for pinching.

I fly thumbs and have never had my thumb slip off the stick, I have a friend who flys thumbs as well and he flys miles better than me. My Dad flys using the pinch method so its obviously not genetic :P

I fly thumbs only. Tried the pinch method recently and it felt weird so thumbs it will stay... If it's good enough for Tareq ;-)

I fly with my thumbs on the top and my finger wrapped round the front of the stick when hovering and when im flying about it use my thumbs and my finger doesn't guite touch the stick (almost like a cyclic ring).

I use the pinch method although I think thumbs are probably better if you don't have a mount (which I don't). My main reason for this is that sometime I find it harder to get full stick movement when holding the radio and then have to end up adjusting my grip.

Thumbs only. Two less digits to worry about.

Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !
                    Trex 550 V2. Adrenalin ( brown kind )
mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.
                    Several planks, gathering dust.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

Have to add that i put very little if any pressure from the fingers on the front of the sticks. As I said, It is more used as a sense of knowing the exact position of the stick which I cannot really get just by putting thumbs on the ends.

I have tried the pinch method when I first started, and used trays, and tray type transmitters, and found that with pinch I felt very restricted with movement. Don't use a neckstrap either, as I feel restricted with it..

In the end though, it really is down to the individual. There are excellent flyers that use pinch, others that use thumbs... and the odd one that likes a steering wheel on the end of their stick..

As some have already said, neither way is better or worse. It is what ever feels more comfortable for you.
