  • DON'T DO IT !!!! Pimp my Heli..... :(

    Hi Guys.

I've been secretly pimping my little CX2. I've loved what Cambs Flyer did so I did the same and bought all the bling bits. You may have seen that I posted and was overjoyed at the better performance and looks.

Well I went a stage further....I bought the white Carbon tail etc for the little CX2.

What a pile of crap !
First the canopy. In the advert it looks great but the reality is it comes completely see-through with a few stickers on a sheet. It's not white or has a cockpit sticker. Neither are the stickers pre-cut. It looks nasty and cheap and it is. I'm spray painting it as I type this...well waiting for it to dry at any rate. Howevver. the landing skids were next. The carbon rods don't fit in the holes and they are a pig to get moving and get even.

The tail iself is flimsy and the white plastic is thin and bends very easily. The screws have trouble biting into the plastic it's so thin. Super Glue to the rescue. The only thing I did buy that I was happy with was the 180 UPGRADE engines..... BUT..... if you fit the heatsink like I did then you need to turn the engines around the other way because there are capacitors on the sides of the 180 that cause the heat sink to offset the little motors.

Another thing.... The 180's do seem to make a difference but I am deeply suspicious. The reason being is when you remove the old motor's they say 180 as well ?! Anyyway.....final thing.....the carbon tail boom is long and heavier than the old plastic tail so even with max forward trim the CX2 wanders backwards. unscrew the servo horn and up it a click and then trim is near centre again..... flies nice....although I have no canopy on yet.

I'll post some pics but my advice....forget the pimp and stay with ally and motor upgrades.

dude sounds like a plan im doing the same as you but keeping the old body, but i think 180 motors mean the size not the power. and the canopy and stickers, well thats how they come on most rc models it means you can do what ever color you want. get pics up asap. show me yours and i'll show you mine lol

    It's a diesel.
Maximum output PS 170 at RPM 4200
    Maximum torque 258 lbs.ft / 350 Nm at RPM 2000

    and forever standard

Ok I am seriously P1ssed off now !
I finished spraying the canopy last night.... came out crap because of an accident....looks like I painted it with a stick ...but WTF....
Anyway got the stickers cut out and laid them on the side of the Canopy ...and.... what the hell !!!! They don't fit. The back piece of the sticker decal is 50% wider than the back of the canopy !!! either the stickers are at the wrong scale or the canopy is the wrong size !!!!

Too angry to care now !!!! But I hope those selling this get ball rot !

Sorry to hear your going through hell mate, with my upgrade alloy parts I thought the blue police e-flite body would just finish it off with the blue colour scheme.

I wouldn't go any further on the upgrading sheet, she fly's very nicely now the pots have been trimmed, and as far as the motors go I'll change them when they start wearing out, the preinstalled motors have plenty of power in the weight to power ratio.

I do wish three cell batts could be installed for extra flight time, as you really need about six batts and two chargers to keep a good level for flying between the cool down and recharge times, but at £20 a pop for the bats and £30 for the step down transformer and Li Po charger it starts to get a bit silly price wise for a little heli.

          Bubblefish777,
It sucks when you buy parts that don’t seem to be thought out properly. Best thing to do is see if you can modify it & if not move on! Think of it as return to real aeromodelling.

I went for a Gruapner Jet Ranger body & had the opposite experience, this thing is quality!

          cambs flyer,
Just noticed an ad on Flightpower site, they are making a special battery for the CX2 which is only £15 & it’s the light weight type so might improve your flight time a bit. http://www.flighttech.co.uk/
