it's the under carriage from a raptor 30, just in case i get in a bit of a muddle and come down a bit lop sided lol.
hopefully that won't happen now i've removed the training gear, the down draft from the rotors on the balls really did affect the stability.

Another option for the same or less money is to get an mcpx, especially if you already have a spektrum or JR Tx. Mine has already saved me a fortune in spares and I'm now getting the hang of side on hovering.

Hi mate, i have one but to be honest it's a bit of a toy, i'm not its greatest fan, it flys ok if i don't push it too hard but it does some curious things, i also don't like the so called safety features, such as the main gear slips round on the main shaft, and the link rods ping off at the drop of a hat, i'm more inclined to call them design faults. Ok, i know it's only a 100 bills heli, but i could have put that towards something useful or just bigger. i've got my name down on a copy of phoenix, and a nitro freya, i'll muddle through the transition from T/G to normal skids soon enough, i know the hellicommand is a bit of a cheat, and i can understand some of our more learned members disapproval of such a mechanical box of tricks, i'm just trying to save myself a bit of cash/heartache and avoid crashing as much as possible. the thing is, all i want to do is plod around the field upright at a snails pace while i get used to the controls.
Thanks again everyone for your comments and advice, i'll take it onboard.
        regards,
        gram.

I'm learning without training gear. Had it on my 450 for a little while, but like you found it annoying and not really helping me. Spend most of my time on Phoenix, and fly the "real thing" occasionally when time permits - I am MUCH braver with the simulator and haven't managed to bring myself out of the tail-in hover yet, but I won't be rushed... just taking my time and learning at my own pace.

If you can take off and land then get the training gear off. It will only hinder your progress and if your moving about a bit then it really won't help you any if you crash! The Heli will be 100% more stable without it. If your worried about the tail (torque tube drive) put the vertical fin from the 600 or 700 on it and that will give you the clearance you need .

            Hope this helps

If you are getting confused with the controls then perhaps you need to concentrate on Sim time. You don't have time with a heli to think about what to do, its got to be automatic. That just takes stick time. You might find that a proper lesson would help. It will give you much more confidence and you will get advice from an expert on what you should do. I've done a lot of one to one teaching, not in rc, but everyone needs different advice, and often there is one little thing that can be fixed to make a big difference.

I've now got a DX6i, Mcpx, and futaba t6j + reciever going for a song if anyone's interested.

Forgot t mention, while i was down at the field we watched a guy who had helicommand fitted to one of his helis, thanks for talking me out of buying one cos they're not that good, i can fly better than that on my own, sort of...

From my limited experience with HC so far, I found that how good it performs varies a lot on how it is setup on the computer, and also where it is mounted. Although I am very much new to rc helis, before I sent my dx6i off, when flying the 450 the cyclic was very responsive and all the HC did was put it horizontally when I let go of the cyclic. It also depends on what mode you are using.

However having said that, I agree that if you know how to fly well then there isnt too much point on it other than as a bail out system.
