      Apples and Oranges.
personally i wouldnt touch any heli between a contra rotating and a 450SE v2

i really cant agree that anything in that band would make a good first heli. they are at best unreliable, finicky to setup and work on and do a fair bit of damage to themselves.

my personal experience with the mini pred was at best scary and at worst very scary.

when you say a trex is costing 600ukp and the mini pred costing 200ukp your not comparing like with like either as a 600ukp trex will have a decent gyro and servos on it where the mini-pred components are ermm... well ya know... ;-)

Then you must have not given it much of a chance, and as I said, use a decent radio and a decent lipo and its a good model. The one I flew was well set up, and flew very well, the mini-pred components are basically zoom components, and this model already survived a crash with next to no damage.

The only down side to them is out of the box they are not set up, so dont just power it up and have a go, and the tx that comes with them is utter crap so that doesnt help.

On a decent transmitter like a FF7 they fly very smoothly, the only down side flight wise is the low cyclic responce, but that can be adjusted via the mixing arms anyway.

        Apples and oranges.....

The 450se is a good heli. What im saying is that i dont think the other cp stuff is worth it or easy to fly on. The se v2 is almost as stable a good 30!

I flew a V2 for the first time this weekend and I have to say that the improvment on my old V1 is amazing, or it could possibly be my old V1 has hit the deck 1 too many times

i've flown one and wasn't that impressed..... probably is the best 450 though, i've been flying alot of 50 size machines and to go from that to a 450 is probably why
                  cheers Lee

rotorhead i gave it a good chance in stock form. at the end of the day its a bad copy of the zoom which had its issues anyway.

Having gone from a twister bell 47 to a mini titan - i'm very impressed with the way the mini-t handles... the 47 gave me a good idea how to keep the model on track so when i first flew the mini-t i had a good idea what to expect.... it just went much quicker and was very precise on the controls!

Would also suggest flying indoors (sports hall) first, as the wind has a profound effect on the heli... i didnt expect it to lift as much as it did... and drop just as quick once the wind had droped!

No question, i've spent a lot of cash on a small heli... was it worth it - i think so... had two 8min flights tonight - well impressed!!!!
                        Regards,
                        Matt

Nah, its an improvement over the zoom....

They have taken trhe zoom and basically fixed its major issues.

Well all I can say is that I like this heli and its given me the confidence to fly bigger and better machines .... hence the new toy ..... Century Hawk pro with toki 40 engine and pipe .. gy401 and futaba 3001 cyclis and throttle and hitec 6965 rudder so my view is that the mini pred is a very good purchase ......Also after seeing Rotorhead fly it on Sunday its a nice machine with the little things that he said for me to do to get it to do loops and rolls and the like but for now its set up the way i like it .... oh and i had it outside today flying it at the local club i go to and no probs at all with it hehe ..... training gear is off as well after about 3 times at the indoor club heheh ..... I love flying Helis ...... move over airwolf

You know what I love most about the Mini Pred?

Its getting more and more people into the hobby, because its lowered the entry-cost significantly. That, I think, can only be a good thing.
I've got a perfect flying record - I've not left one up there yet!

I could not agree more Philimon as most people dont wanna spend £400+ on a heli just for them not to get on with it so for me the mini pred was the option i went .... I looked at others and for money the mini pred was a good deal ....... personally i think they should sell without Tx and let the user choose there own ..... but all in all I enjoy flying helis even tho i aint been at it long and it will keep me in the hobby longer ...... Oh i still like my fixed wings tho lol
