Hi again,After getting all the new parts for the 450 and rebuilding today,Its amazing how easy it is to setup the swash when you know how,I'm still having problems with the tail.

I'm having to keep the rudder stick pushed slightly right when hovering just to keep the tail still. Then when I do give some rudder input the tail kind of flicks to what ever side,Is this normal?.I set up using the manual that came with the gyro from wingswheelsandrotors.com and a video I found on youtube.

Can anyone suggest anything I might have missed during setup or somewhere else to find a video to help.

Also what should the gyro screen on the dx6i be set to?
I have it set to 0=75 and 1=30

In case I forget to thank anyone Thanks In advance

check also that the tail slider is in the right place, also if it keeps going the same way, then try adjusting the linkage length in the appropriate direction so the tail stays in the centre, if you dont want to adjust the linkage length, then slacken the 2 screws on the tail servo mount and slide the servo up or down the tail, until the tail stays in the centre

Is it much harder to hover in normal mode than hh mode,I just read something that said to hover in normal mode and adjust the servo until it hovers with no rudder input. But i'm a bit afraid to try it in normal mode.

because its in heading hold and you have sub trim, it probably cant find its centre point, have you tried it without sub trimming? did you set it up on non heading hold mode first to set end points etc?

if the servo came with different arms try those, and also try spinning the servo arm round to the next "stalk" as sometimes they are at very slight different angles and you will find your 90that way, it will be harder to fly in normal mode as it cuts the gyro out and you are controling the tail directly

You cannot use subtrim to set the centre on a tail servo because the gyro will control the servo. It will only see the subtrim as a rudder input just as if you were moving the rudder stick.

So you just have to get it set where the servo arm is as near to 90 degrees as possible when the servo is centred.

In fact Finless is now standing up and saying that you CAN use sub trim for when you can't get that dead 90° by positioning alone.
Apparently, when you next power-up the gyro will see your sub-trimmed setting as centre stick.

There's more discussion and videos about that way of setting up tails and back when he came out with it, a bit of a storm brewed up on various forums so he went into more detail.
Some of it is TRex 450 Pro specific and some of it is more general.
The tail vids on this build page hold a lot of it.

Trex 450 Pro build videos - HeliFreak

and Googling "finless tail servo sub trim" brings up some of the pro/anti arguments.
Makes great bedtime reading, a few pages of this and I'm ready for a good sleep.

Hi,I've sorted the problem with the tail not holding, but now have another problem. When I give rudder it turns fine but when I want it to stop it stops and gives a bit of a kick/wag.
