yep, think its been eluded to previously, quality is subjective.

If we take another car anology, a few years back Skoda came top in a reader's satisfaction survey - was it because a Skoda is better built or uses better components than a comparible VW? or was it that expectations were lower?

I suspect these days its quite difficult to buy low quality stuff even when buying clones, Esky etc etc

I've flown many makes of helis over the years, TT's, Kyoshos (Connies, Nexus's etc) Hirobos, Kalts, Aligns etc etc, some where right dogs to keep going like the Concept I had, others have earned names like old faithful (Sceadu evo 50 )

Odd Hirobo isnt getting much of a mention, quality wise I would say they're close to the JR stuff depending on the model, eg Sceadu 50, and if you look at some of their F3C competition machines from a few years back they where the mutts nuts such as the Eagle.

The thing is with model helis nowadays we are reaching the point of deminishing returns on progress, each new model is only small inprovement on the previous version, unlike a few years ago, and so the quality is going to start to even out among the brands over the next few years, and has IMO already started to do so, eg the Sceadu Evo 50 vs a T-rex 600, both nearly identical in flying capabilities, yet the Sceadu is quite a bit older, and not really any harder to maintain, and the parts seem to last for ever.

Personally I dont think you can really fault Align in the quality department apart from the cheesium screws, they fly well and go togther well and the parts dont seem to start with much or develop much slop, or at least they haven't for me.

Like with everything whats been good to one person may not be good to another...
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Yeah Hirobo in general doesn't tend to get mentioned that much lately. Partly because the focus is on lots of new 50s that have come out in the last couple years. I agree on the evo 50, it's a very good heli. It's the only Hirobo I have ('makes me curious about the Eagle and Freya but I have too many helis already) and it's definitely a 'keeper', I love the way it flies.

              Okay top companies for Quality:

Hirobo heli's, Blitz Avro, JR all machine's, x-cell

Remember a lot of companies make to a price like Align, the 700 may fly well and put a smile on your face but it'll wear out quicker than a JR, Hirobo or the Avro Machine's so to me Align fails on that.

Having said that I think since Align 1st came out they have moved up the ladder in quality wise but they have a long to go as well.

If I was to buy a 90 today I'd want either the Avro or Vibe 90 SG Edition

If Align is classed as being a lower class make than the other models why at this weekends uk 3d cup are 6 out of the 13 pilots using align and not other models?

At the end of the day you need to fly within your means. If you can afford a 700 for instance now, and could afford to dink it once in a while, but you cant afford a kasama or synergy or whatever for another 3 months or something, then id question wether you are making the right choice in buying such a model. An expensive model will hold you back if you cant afford to repair it, end of.

Align is OK, but you have to buy in to it with your eyes wide open, being aware that they arent the best quality in some areas (main gears stripping, tail shafts snapping, ball links splitting etc etc), but if thats what you can afford to run, then go with it. You may find after a while that you wish you had bought something more expensive; if thats the case, sell what you have and go for it, but I'd bet until you are up to a standard where you can notice and appreciate differences, that almost any model would do you just fine.

I'd be considering a good 50 if I were you, much cheaper to repair, cheaper to run, cheaper to setup.

because there cheap to crash so learning on them is ideal

Ford sell more cars than Mercedes but Mercs are the better Quality car

plus personel choice and quick follow the crowd everyone fly's align so must I.... pha people shouldn't rush to follow the crowd

Most of the Park Hall guys have Aligns too lol, don't get into the trap by thinking you have to buy the latest or most expensive, even little set ups like the Blade 400 RTF package will teach you the basics and even further, plus theres always great second hand bargains to have.

Just enjoy what you do, budget yourself so you can afford the up keep, the 3D guys will always either totally destroy or wear out parts much quicker then us less able pilots.

I'll always stick with Trex's as I know there bloody good and I've been to quite a few 3D events and spoken to many pilots and I've yet to see more expensive machines do anymore then Align Heli's, and the fact you see more of them then another make plainly speaks for itself.
