    Hi Phil

Your missing the point, std cheap servo's will work but will be a pain in the arse as are so fragil (not to mention a lot of the really cheap ones are crap!) so by the time you have replaced the gear sets twice (which you will) you are up to the cost of the 65MG's which will go on and on and on.
If you like changing servo gears sets in small servo's constantly then go for it but I would rather avoid this if possible:-)

    Cheers
    Bob

In normal use and more the standard ones are fine, cheaper, and cheaper to replace should you bin it as they fail and not something else

agreed completely... 65mgs are the only way to go, i had 56's in my rex which were fine but do strip very easily

sweet, just booking tickets for the Opera now

i was told that the metal gears develop slop which seems a lot on the smaller helis so Karbonite was the best option

i have got some Karbo geared servos but i'm pretty sure they'll get wrecked everytime out, who sells the gearsets for the 56's & 65's & is it the same gearset for both? (curious as i have 3 of each type )
or more importantly are the metal gearsets a direct replacement?

what about the Futaba 3154 micro rudder servo on the tail?
some people seem to like those

                    Hi

We have gear sets (carbonite) for the 56 and 65 (there different from each other) and metal gear sets for the 65, don't think there is a metal option for the 56.

3154 is supposed to be very good for the tail when matched to the 401 as is the 9650.
Haven't tried the 3154 yet as theres a bit of a shortage of them currently.

                    Cheers
                    Bob

                      thanks Bob

i bought my Rex used a couple of weeks ago & it came with the 3154 on the back already, its plugged into a CSM 420 micro (dunno if that will be a good combo?)
i called into Skyline on the way back & picked up a case for it along with a few other spares & some bits for the Raptor

i bought Tigwells 50 off him as he's sold up AGAIN

i do like buying stuff off him as he does like to do a deal

i'll either pop over or call about the gearsets, thanks

I've been running HS 56's for over a year now, and although they have been great they do seem to strip for a pastime. The annoying thing is it's always the same gear that strips, so you end up with bags of all the other gears and none of the one you actually need! I think if I was starting over I'd go for the HS65 MG's just to avoid the gears stripping and that annoying task of removing the servo's from the T-Rex frame .

The smaller metal geared servo's hold up ok, I suspect in reality the small models don't get the same amount of air time as say a Rappy 50 would plus vibration levels are or at least should be much lower.
Carbonite gears don't hack in the small models, well ok HS56's worked fine in my Hornet X3D but I have blown the gears out of these servo's in the air in my T Rex SE.

Every one in the know uses 65MG's in the T Rex's including all the Align sponsored boys even when they are sponsored by the big radio manufactorers.
Tails servo's are a different matter though, we are talking cyclic servo's here.

                          Cheers

Sorry to hijack the thread but...
Anyone see a problem with me using a full size receiver in my SE?
It fits perfectly and is pretty lightweight, will pick up a micro in a weeks time or so but will it do till then guys?
                            Cheers,

                              Hi Gazza,

Interference? maybe?. But maybe a bigger Rx may be better. Try it (but don't blame me!!)
