Ive got the rex 450s now and looking at getting servos and gyro..
Bearing in mind I can only just hover and prob going to take me a while to do basic manouvers...
Is it worth spending lots on gear or go for the cheaper stuff and wait till i get better?
    SERVO >>>>
Ive read the HS-56 or 65 is good.. but what about...
    HS 55 - £9
    HS 56 -£17
    HS 81mg - £18 (will it fit?)

As for gyro again the 401 seems to be the thing maybe with the
9650 or 9254...servo but again price and skill level...????
    190 - £49
    240 - £89
    401 - £99

    Help......

I have the 401 on mine, which is a GREAT gyro.
I have the HDS577 digital servo on it (Ashtek electronics) which is very good value and works well.
I'd have bought a 9650 if I flew it more, but I dont,
I think that the 9254 would be physically too big and heavy and look a bit daft on a TRex, although i'm sure it'd work just fine.

Servos, I have HS56s, which do strip gears pretty easily.
If you have the budget, go for HS65s - in terms of the overall cost, the difference is not much and worth it.

      Go to philhenderson.

He will do a 401 for £75 (assuming he's got some left)

PM him on here, he's probably read or reading the thread at the moment

401 is best gyro for Trex, not worth considering 240 for the saving you'll make. 577 or 9650 on tail if you can afford otherwise HS56.

            HS56 or 65 on swash

Personally I like the Logictech 2100T more but not sure who's stocking it in the UK yet.

                Hi

Definitely go with the HS65MG (metal geared) servo's for the rotorhead as anything with out metal gears will strip out every time you crash it or even bump it hard. often all three cyclic servo's will strip out and that's a pain to change everytime, the difference in servo cost will soon be eaten up in gear sets anyway.

                Cheers

I like the Karbonite gears on the fullsize Hitec servos,my experience with MG ones is they become sloppy

How do the small MG servos hold up in the sloopy gears stakes?

                  cheers

They get sloppy quickly, waste of money in my opinion

I just looked at replacing gears in one of my gliders as there was a lot of slop, HS81MG's, gearset is about 80% of cost of new servo...

also bear in mind that most MG servos have a plastic gear in there as well, they aren't all metal

                      Hi

The smaller metal geared servo's hold up ok, I suspect in reality the small models don't get the same amount of air time as say a Rappy 50 would plus vibration levels are or at least should be much lower.
Carbonite gears don't hack in the small models, well ok HS56's worked fine in my Hornet X3D but I have blown the gears out of these servo's in the air in my T Rex SE.

Every one in the know uses 65MG's in the T Rex's including all the Align sponsored boys even when they are sponsored by the big radio manufactorers.
Tails servo's are a different matter though, we are talking cyclic servo's here.

                      Cheers
                      Bob

We are talking here about Joe Public though not some hotshot 3D nutter

In normal use and more the standard ones are fine, cheaper, and cheaper to replace should you bin it as they fail and not something else
