Not the best Heli for a complete novice to learn on - especially if you are setting it up yourself with no experience.

I learnt on a honeybee fixed pitch and moved to a king 3 and am now building a trex 450 ... If i could do it all again i would go straight from the FP to the trex 450 - the king 2 quality wise is pretty poor compared to the newer king 3 which is still not that flash compared to the trex 450. King 2 also didn't have the brushless motor which was a required mod.

If I was you I would flick off the king 2 kit before you sink more cash into it and start on either a fixed pitch heli or simulator to gain some radio time and then get one good quality kit and build it with some assistance from an experienced flier.

If you still want to follow the cheaper esky line then the King 3 is a much much better heli then the king 2 - by a country mile. I still have mine and still use it with upgraded spektrum 2.4ghz transmitter - that is until the trex 450 is finished :-P

Honey Bee V2 could be a good one for you less than £100 here: Honey Bee V2 From Heliguy.com

Also the Blade MSR is a good one if you can stretch your bedget a bit.

On pheonix I can hover inverted, but can barely do figure of eights on my raptor 30, again personally, its a false sense of security on the sim, you will learn the core elements but when you fly outside its a different ball game, mainly repairs.

A second hand twister storm rtf wouldn't be a bad start and would be cheaper than a 2nd hand blade 400.

But on the flip side, what I have found, is in this game you get what you pay for

Oh and don't buy 2nd hand from ebay if you can help it, its a lottery and i have been stung myself, buy off here, or someone you know.

          cheers

I'd save up for a new Blade 400 as it comes with the DX6i TX, which you can use in the future. A good TX is so important when you want to start and play with the various settings.
If you don't want to commit the money get a mCX. It'll give you hours of fun and because its OK to use indoors you can use it anytime any weather

You should check realflight website for tips on G4, if you have vista you have to follow a simple procedure to get it to work (ticking run as admin I think).

If your laptop struggles with G4, you should download and try the free helisimrc simulator, which I think is very good, and will run on anything.

                HeliSimRC

To make it a bit more realistic (ie less stable) you can to set the swash interactions to 0.06 on all fields, and it is then a very good simulation I think - doesn't look fantastic or have flash graphics, but it will teach you to fly - I am pretty sure it will work with the realflight controller - you may need to calibrate and check channels etc.
