  • Advice for next purchase of batterys 450SE v2

    Hi all,

Well took the heli out this morning had a great 30 mins or so practicing my forward flying and going left to right ive noticed after 4 to 5 mins the power is dropping to the point when i hard turn and try to striaghten up the heli just does not seem to lift quick at all, and on my 4th battery to the point i hit the deck( Another bent main shaft o well), im assuming its the battery as i have had them for at least 3 years mainly stored in the cupboard i have probably charged them 20 to 30 times for this time i have had them.

The current batterys i have got are EVO 20 1800 mAh 3s1p 11.1v is there anything near to this battery that you guys use on the T-rex 450 se v2 that you could recomend in this price range.

All seems very well with the hovering problem i had in other post so thats sorted.

    Thanks alot

1800mah on the 450 is a pretty low capacity, and you may want to get something a little higher.

make sure you dont run the lipo down below the 20% rule, and check how much you are putting back in.

you probably find most ppl using the 2200mah packs on the 450 helis.

I use 2200 mAh 25c batteries on both of my 450's. They work really well for me.

Just bought some new fast charge ones for £18 (Heliguy.com site)

      Cheers,

            HI all,

Thanks for the advice will go and get the 2200 batterys i must say though im usely parranoid of hongy kongy stuff but well if its recomended cant say fairer than that, one other thing though what sort of flight times are you getting out of the batterys that you both have mentioned at what rate you charge them at then?

            Thanks

                Arh 450 lipo's my favourite ,

                I've flown all sorts of lipo's in 450 size heli's, Flightpower, outrage, hyperion, torrnado, Zippy's, loongmax, Turnigy's, Mysetry's .
Not just 1 packs but at least several of each, the following is in no way critisim of anyones choices just my own honest findings.

Flightpowers, grossely overpriced hype! Not really anything good to say about them, other than the cells do seem to be matched well and balance accurately. Dont seem to last as long as are made out to.

Outrage, well pretty much the same as above, but worse! cell's/packs dying for no good reason significant power loss as cycles increase.

Hyperion, well if your ok spending a little more then these are simply stunning! the power from them is great with very little drop off if any! at the end of the flight, then of course the fast charging capability is great.
Other mnufactures should take note, for this performance the price is justified!

Torrnado's (overlander/tech), these packs are around the same price as hyperions and i just love them! they dont seem to have quite the edge on power over hyperion, but they are very very consistant power, and give great cycle life i had 3 packs of these and well over 200 cycles on each. Brilliant value for money.

Loongmax, price is middle of the road i quite like these although they are big packs, partly due to the cell spacers, but also the cells are quite large too, and also heavy. But power is good from them and they give decent cycle life, i dont like the cheap constrution and poor quality balance leads. If space is tight then i would consider something else, never used bigger than 3s of these not likely to but thats more an issue with Giant C, than the packs.

Zippy/ Turnigy, The budget option, and surprisingly the best of the lot! i really so far have no critisim of these packs and at £13 for a 25C 2200mah packs im not likely to, imho the only packs here producing more power are the Hyperions proven by taching the HS, Obviously at this price there are packs that can arrive DOA but dont be scared by the horror stories if i brought a dud, i would not stop using them. Cant comment on cycle life as im still finding tjat out but 70 cycles on some packs and still going strong.

Mystery's, well my experience with these has not been good, every one has died early like 10-20 cycles been poorly balanced and lack power, im sure some get lucky and there ok but not worth the risk imho given the other budget options.

So there you have it, make of it what you will i just hope it might help one or two people make a choice they will be happy with.

Ive had good results with winforce from ebay.
Im using the larger 2450mah 30C packs in my pro and ive had good results so far.
My oldest pack only has 30 cycles so I cant comment on there life.. as I have 6 packs it will take me a long time to get them up to 100 cycles.

I got mine from this ebay seller

with 2200 packs I will take out about 1700mah with 4 minutes 20 of generally 3d flying.

I have found the hyperions, and the rockamps to offer the best power throughout the flight. Not tried the revo packs, but also hear good things about them.

I've had some fairly good results using some winforce 3000mah '35c' packs which have had good power, and oldest pack coming up to probably 70 cycles. These have been flown pretty hard throughout its life though.

Hovering circuit flying, would expect the packs to last a lot longer.

I have the 54 quid revo 40C pack and a loongmax 26 quid 30-40C pack, both give very similar performance, the revo being better, but also twice the price (not twice better though).

I have just ordered another 2 loongmax 30-40C's (one is the new 5C charge one). I am looking forward to flying with more batteries

Cheers for the heads up on that one Jason.. Just checked up on the 'giant cod' website and ordered 2 of these myself. Few of my packs getting tired out, and these new ones with the 5c charge rate, I anticipate must be pretty good.

i got 3 of these and 3 rhino 2250 which are roughly the same price and rhinos have noticeably more punch than the mystery batteries.

Still they are good value and seem to be lasting well.
