Appreciate all the help and info

Now seriously thinking elec is the way to go from my newbie point of view?
Thinkin elecs are easier for a novice to learn with?
I’ve read the nitros don’t go out of tune as easy, but elecs have no fuelling to set up so can’t go out of tune as such? no mess, can be kept in the living room lol, plus no noise n not to mention the global warming bit lol

I could even try fly an elec in the living room, n the mrs wouldn’t even know
    Cheers Wyn

The T-Rex 600 is my first and only helicopter! I love it and wouldn't change it although you wouldn't be flying it in the livingroom! I have been flying for 3 months now and found it very easy to learn on. Although I have not flown an 50 size IC heli I don't think it would be any harder to learn on and if you have it set up by a reputable shop then you should be absolutely fine and have no issues.

what ever you decide just make sure you buy the best you can afford and the bigger the better for learning!

I spent a miserable 8 weeks trying to fly the Twister 3D and found it just too frisky - I have made really good progress with the TREX 600 after getting basic competance with the Twister Medevac and simulator. You do need an expert on the first flight though to mainly help with radio set up (pitch curves etc) and check the gyro function - otherwise it's a very stable beast. There's too much to go wrong very quickly with chance of serious injury or $$$ down the tube if very simple things aren't right (like the gyro reverse switch!)

As has been stated many times before though if you have any chance of hooking up with a club or experienced pilot there's a lot to be said for getting what they fly.

How often do you adjust the fuel mixture on your fullsize car
While I agree with what you wrote, the above comparison doesn't hold - model heli engines are far more particular than a car engine is.
I know that I adjust my OS 50 hyper on occasion when the weather changes - only a click or two either way on the main needle, but it does happen.

I've never adjusted my car though
          (Wouldn't know how!!)

          Cheers,
