I have found being a blade 400 owner that you can never have enough parts, I stock up on one thing and damage another. The thing to save up for is servos, I used eflight servos for ages and they are crap!!!! You only need to have little bit of a crap landing or just look at them the wrong way and they skip a few teeth. I have crashed my blade upside down and broken servo horns but the servo’s has been fine. The hi tec 65mg’s are bullet proof. Another thing to upgrade when you got enough cash is the esc I am on my third now and the same thing has happened to all of them (they go into low voltage mode) not to sure why either must be my doggy flying. a lot of people say that to get the align 450 as a starter rather than the B400 but with the right servos and set up right it fly’s just as good.

Align 450 was my first choice but money played a factor Dan Atlesat now I have a Spektrum DX6i which I can always take across to the Align 450 or I might take a look at the clone bodies that Gav uses. I think I made up a little spreadsheet and you're looking anywhere from 215gbp with some al cheapo servos and motor that Gav recommended to start off with and then if you went with hitec65mg (which I was looking at), decent gyro and scorpion esc and motor around 350-400gbp.

With the motor that was just chosen from heliguy as being one of the top of the range. Not sure what other good motors and escs there are out there.

I would swap the servos as soon as you can on the B400.

Keep an eye out for second hand sets, I got 3 for £30 from the forum and they were much better than cheap servos.

If you break a eflight servo dont repair it, just buy three 65MGs as this will be better in the long run (and you can put them into a trex450 if you upgrade your airframe in the future)

Why only 3 servos seeing as there are 4?
I will do it eventually Holst but at the moment I'm only taking off and landing. Any sort of 3D flight is way off in the future and I'm sure the Eflite servos will be substantial for what I'm doing? Surely?

What I really meant was to look out for second hand Hitec 65MG servos and buy them if some are avalable at a good price.
Otherwise you may break a standard servo and have to pay for new ones.

The 65MG isnt an ideal tail servo so a different (more expensive) servo might be needed if you wanted to upgrade the fourth servo. That is why you only need three 65MG servos.

Accurate fast servos wont just help for more advanced flight but will make the heli a little easyer to fly whatever level you are at.

yeah wondered if the 65mgs could be used as a tail servo or not. Are there any hitec ones that are suitable?
