Hirobo Quark

Hi,
Still trying to figure out what heli to progress on to next.
Had pretty much made my mind up to go for a Blade 400, but then got distracted by the Hirobo Quark.
Its a much smaller single rotor heli and good for indoor flying, something worth taking in mind when approaching autumn, it is apparently also capable of outdoor flight in lighter winds.
Has anyone tried one of these yet ? Are they any good

They are supposed to be pretty good althogh ive not flown one myself.
I would recomend checking parts cost and spares avalability before buying one.

However the blade MSR you have on order is a pretty similar heli, (small and single blade) so the quark might be too similar.

Hirobo Quarks are from the quick search 320gbp for one complete with TX.
Century Nitro Kestrel SE with TX and case are 330gbp. Wish I had purchased one of these instead of my lemon secondhand Hawk Pro

They seem like a good little helicopter,but so they should at the price.The cost is too high IMO.As you say they are ok outside in lighter winds,but when do we ever have light winds in Britain? lol! I think you should go for a 450 size machine and like what i do coming up for Autumn/Winter time is i go to an indoor sports centre to fly

Ahh, now you have hit upon another heli I have been looking into. The Innovator M530 does look like another good option and I love the scale look
If you have flown both the Innovator and the Quark do you have a favourite between them and how well does the Innovator handle the wind ?

If you are flying indoors only - get the quark. It's a great learning tool, very stable and yet can be thrown arounda bit too when you get better at it. Not good in wind though, and it is very expensive (don't buy £50 Hirobo battery packs, you can buy £5 lipo packs if you make up an adaptor and they work great).

If you are flying outdoors get the Innovator. It can be made nice and docile with the foam blades and low headpeed, or you can fit wood blades and up the headspeed and throw it around a bit.

You'll probably struggle to find anyone who actively dislikes the Quark if they've tried it.

OTOH, you'll probably struggle to find anyone who has a good word to say about the Kestrel!

For Indoor flying it is the Quark - the Innovator is too big unless you have a lot of space. I flew the Quark outside more that in - it will handle light winds (up to 5 - 6 mph) very well. I flew on calm days (and there are more than you might think), indeed I flew it outside on Christmas day - cold, blue, still, wonderful! Lots of calm times eraly in the morning and in the evening for the last hour or so of daylight.

The Innovator is good in 10 - 12 mph winds, and it does depend on ability and blades (foam, wood, carbon) but foam are OK up to 10 mph.

The Innovator is a big, CP Quark..... the Quark prepared me for the Innovator MD 530, which in my experience is currently the best 1st CP helicopter option there is. Foe the Innovator you must have the sofyware and cable. The Innovator takes you way beyond what the Quark can, and indeed I am now progessing from the MD530 to the Innovator EXP - (more power and headspeed).

My Innovator MD530 is now fitted with wood blades and the EXP canopy, and the MD530 will loop and roll, but not go as far as the EXP. I am now tending to fly the EXP for further advancement and the MD530 for relaxed, fun looning around. In fact my MD530 could be redundant as I also have a G5 and now a TREX 500.

I suppose I could settle with using the msr (when it comes) to satisfy my indoor practice/fun and the MD530 for the outdoor stuff.

I've had my Quark for at least two years now & although its an indoor heli it can be ideal for light to calm weather also you can alter heli fp for windier weather.
Got mine set up for very light breeze so she also suited to indoor flying, she a very stable & controlled heli & for someone starting out she would be a breeze! This heli was a lot of money when I first got her but as soon as you take her out of the box you will forget about the cost, not had any problems other than replacing blades.

To be honest that would be a great combo. The quark is overpriced for sure wheras the mSR is good value.

Well it looks more and more like I might end up going for the Innovator. I do seem to be able to handle the B400 in Phoenix, but never the less I am a little dubious about getting one as a first time cp heli (well for me anyway) even though it does seem to have a big following and a good tx.
I'm getting a bit to old for the adrenalin of 3d flying and am really looking for something a bit more relaxing.
I need to try and make the right decision on this first time as I am selling a beloved old fusee clock (another passion of mine) to fund this heli.
