    Tiddler,

I am more of a senior (3 score years and ten) member and have had a Quark and an Innovator since they were first introduced to the UK market.

I thoroughly endorse all the favourable comments that have been made by Edmund and others. The Quark is excellent for indoor use and I too have been able to fly mine in calm conditions. My Innovator did suffer a very major crash when I had an unexplained radio failure. Most parts had to be replaced, including the control unit, but the repair was still financially worth while. I am completely self taught as there are no local clubs that are prepared to have a new member of my age. I do all my heli "playing" in my own small garden and the Innovator crash happened in the garden of a neighbor one evening. Fortunately he was out and did not see me pick up the pile of bits strewn around hid front lawn!

I do agree that the Innovator software is essential and it enables an owner to tame the machine to a very gentle animal before getting a lot bolder. Innovator spares are readily available from all the usual places.

    Do go for it!

    Best wishes,

    Louis

      Thanks Louis,
Its good to be getting such encouragement re the Innovator and I think Ill definitely be making enquiries about it at my local dealer.
All I have to do now is get this clock sold and I should be on my way to my first cp heli.

      Am feeling quite excited now

I suppose I could settle with using the msr (when it comes) to satisfy my indoor practice/fun and the MD530 for the outdoor stuff.

Wish I could afford both Quark & Innovator

Did you manage to get the software and lead ok ?
Yes the Software is readily available (it was not when I first got my Innovator) installs OK - I run XP. I do find I have to re-install the drivers if I do not terminate the program cleanly - but I can live with that.

Out of the boc the Innovator MD530 is too soft - too much Expo - if you have some helicopter experience, and this leads to overcontrol due to Piolot Induced Ossillations. You really must have the software. I can send you some progressive setup files. that helped me to advance.

I see in a later post you say that you can hanldle a Blade 400. You have your answer.

The Innovator is a way better helicopter than the Blade 400. You have advanced beyond the Quark capability to take your skills further - wonderful though the Quark is. I sold mine, but I do miss it - especially now the Winter is coming and indoor flying becomes 'the thing'.

Edmund, your loss was my gain and the best decision.
I understand you missing it because it can be picked up and flown for a quick session at any time. Ive flown the Quark outdoors on still early summer mornings as well as in breezy conditions. Like any fp it doesnt really like wind and as a result I clipped a fruittree and the tail made a strange buzzing noise. Turned out a tooth was missing from the tail gear. Online request and next day I had a new shaft from Midland Helicopters delivered and up flying again in less than 24hours and all for a few pounds.

I really do recommend the Quark SRB as well as Edmunds advice which is sound, based on his experience (The hard way!). This can be an expensive hobby if the wrong choices are made, as well as frustrating!

              Just my luck,

I have been changing my mind between these two helis quicker than I change my underwear
But when I looked at today's weather and realised that at this time of year there's going to be a lot more days like this, I finally decided to bite the bullet, get the credit card out and go get a Quark

Would you believe it, they had just sold out ten minutes before

              Typical

AND, they still haven't got the msr in yet Im now starting to get itchy thumbs

                    Great thanks Butuz
Am really getting the feel of it now and I'm beginning to chuck it about quite well
Even took it outside for a quick try and although the wind pushed it about a bit, it actually took it quite well. The Mcx would have been in the nearest wall within seconds
Must admit Quark + Sports hall sounds like a really good combo

Coooool I am SOOO tempted to get the mSR I keep stopping myself from clicking Buy Now - but really really want to spend £90 on electronics for my Dragonus 450. NGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

The quark is a cool heli - I love it. I bought mine second hand though for nearly half price - paying full price for it would seriously hurt the wallet. In one way it is worth the money because it such a damn nice flying heli (compared to every other fixed pitch heli I've tried) but on the other hand £300+ is bonkers for a small collection of plastic and foam I suppose samurai quality japanese foam costs doesn't it. It's all to do with the furnace see.

Must not buy msr must not buy msr repeat after me

Actually, the trick is to order one from the US. I recommend yrbuy.com

They sell the Quark + TX for about $370 delivered to the UK, so that's about £225 GBP, or 33% discount from the UK price. Just mention to them you don't want to pay taxes and they will do the necessary...

I ordered one Quark from them and it took about 5 days to arrive, no taxes paid. I also ordered many parts (blades, LED kit etc) from them without issues.

I also truly recommend the Quark. I bought many cheap FP Walkeras helicopters, but all were unstable. The Quark looked expensive, but I don't regret the purchase. I have learnt more with the Quark than any other helicopters.

I have a CB100 on order (replacement of the 4#3B) as it is supposed to be a mini Quark, perfect in winter for flying indoor.

The Quark CP (rather than FP) has been annouced, and should be released in the next few months. Could be a nice competitor to the Innovator, although given Hirobo usual high prices, may not be much of a bargain...
