get a cheap 450, CopterX or someting, lots of woodies and don't be shy to crash it.
Zero pitch at midstick, that's something you should fix. Go to the swash menu and set collective pitch mixing temporarily to 0. Fold the blades back, and if they don't overlap, correct the mechanical setup.
I learned to fly inverted with a 200, but it got much easier with the 450. Especially if you can get a new kit for $60 (CopterX), back then I paid € 360 for each of my two T-Rex 450 kits...
The 250 is great for flying in a field with long grass: Hit throttle hold and let it drop - usually there is no damage at all. If you manage to find it.
