    Thanks, yes, it's me.

Those bits I'm not too bad at - though it was very calm that day.

I've done loads of indoor hovering with GAUI 100s, 200s (inc a 3 blade with no stabilisation), & a BuzzFly, all w/o TG for ages, so some stuff is pretty sussed.

What I realised (about 10 minutes after that video - crunch...) was that some stuff I'm clueless at. I'm still much worse hovering nose-right (3 O'clock) than the other orientations (esp with wind), and between 3 O'c & 6 O'c I'm crap. I also lose orientation quite easilly. Part of this is down to being used to flying tiny helis up close and low down.

When something is 20' away and 10' up, those fluoro balls on the TG give a good visual cue, helping me stay relaxed.

So for now, I'm banging away at the orientations, and getting the co-ordination sussed.

I also really must get those canopies on...

I know exactly what you mean about the training balls giving you good visual clues, but I found I hated the TG, cos it made the heli unstable.

      Horses for courses, I suppose?

Unstable in what kind of way ?

Dunno if I said this already, but the 2nd G5 seems a bit cursed, and with the regular TG vibrates to pieces. I've not got to the bottom of this (which has bothered me and drove building the 3rd one), but as I really wanted to have 2 flying I messed about with it.

One of the 4 fluoro balls fell off in flight, and the heli immediately stopped vibrating. As an experiment, I halved the lengths of all 4 TG spars. This pretty much doesn't vibrate, but does leave the fluoro balls as a visual cue, as well as a slightly wider footprint for bad landings.

This might be a possibile compromise, or stepping stone ?

Seems to me that you have a resonance problem with the TG. I had the same trouble when hovering, (although I was hovering a Raptor 50, the principle is the same). After taking advice from Lee (Made2Fade) I shortened the TG Spars by 50mm and kept doing so until the vibration was minimised. The vibes never went completely so I took the TG off and went for it, never looked back. You say you use the flouro balls as a visual clue, would it not be better to train yourself to watch the heli itself for orientation? It is quite a big step to lose the TG so my advice...start watching the heli for your orientations and lose the TG as soon as..after the first few landings your confidence will grow..and the wobble will go
          Cheers

hi scally ,i got rid of the t/g as soon as i could hover it made a great difference to the stability but i know what you mean about orientation the best way i have found is the use of bright colours, under the canopy and the skid supports are bright orange and my tail fins are yellow .
