  • Pitch & throtle curves on the Futaba 6 Super

    Hi all

Interesting how most of the queries WRT radio setup relate to Futaba gear

I'm puzzling over throttle and pitch curves for my Twister 3D and Sceadu. I've figured out that the 6 SUper gear only offers a 3 point curve 0/50/100 and have figured out that the throttle curve is only adjustable with the Hovering throttle HV-T function. I can't work out however the Pitch Rate settings PI-N,I,H Obviously Idle-Up is idling and I presume Hovering is stick at centre but is Normal stick high ie 100% ? And what does high side and low side mean ? And the % input (default 100%) does this adjust the curve away from its straight line ?

Lastly is there any benefit for newbies to have a more sophisticated curve ie 5 point. The radio setup seems easier on the FUtaba 7/9/14 series with dedicated gyro functions and better pitch and throttle curve menus.

Thanks for any help - my Google search only hit my earlier thread on CCPM settings - incidentally I found by accident that the anomalous swash plate DOWN = collective increase is 'normalised' by simply mounting the blade grips upside down and hence mirroring the pushrod linkage - might help TWister 3D owners who can't configure the radio to give increased pitch with swash plate lowering.

i have only had a few plays with the 6s it was enough for me to cringe every time i see one and want to jump on it.

your in for a hard time with that thing. my recomendation is to stick it on ebay and get a 7c or 9c well worth the money.

I had a brief go with a 6 and found it a head scratcher - even with the manual. I then got a T7CP and, in contrast, you can get away without having a manual. Apart from a few bits, such as Normal and HH gyro gain setup, the 7c is very simple and friendly.

I started with a 50th special edition FF6 transmitter and it really was a pain to program and use.
I got used to it eventually, but once I switched to the FF7 life was so much easier.
Jog dial programming could not be easier and all the menus make a lot more sense

Try inwood models for a "transmitter only" purchase.
            Cheers,

The N, I and H refer to the flight mode, i.e. N=normal, I=Idle Up (you only get 1 idle up with a 6XS) and H=hold. There are only 3 points to the "curve" so normally you would have,

                    Normal: rising e.g. 0 50 100
                    Idle Up: V curve e.g. 90 50 90
                    Hold: V Curve e.g. 0 50 100 (a little extra +ve pitch for those auto's)

The % is the relative servo position, i.e. 0 is at one end of the servo's travel and 100 is the other end.

Hope this helps, I used a FF6 for a few years before upgrading to a FF9. Did the job I needed it to including running a dual gain HH gyro and a governor.
I would not go back now though after having the luxury of 3 idle-up's (not that I use more than 2) and 5 point curves also the extra channels allow all my toys (HH gyro, governor, occasionally a remote glow) control from the Tx rather than the actual units.

                      Thanks

Thats a really helpful reply Rob - wish you'd written the manual - many thanks.

Incidentally - another quirk - the throttle trim wouldn't work at low end but would at the high end - problem solved by going into poweron setup and reversing throttle stick then going into regular setup mode and reversing throttle servo -wierd huh ?
