  • Heeeeeelp please :)

First off, great forum, just started at 41 years with a micro s300, having read the forums, i agree coaxl is prob not the best place to start, but hey, buy first, learn later lol, but it is good for orientation, get near a wall and forget what does what tut, but getting there. The main reason for this post is....the s300, my friend...really was as well stuffed it into a corner of the room, after that all it wanted to do was fly backwards and to the right, no matter how much trim, i have changed the outer and inner main shafts, this seamed to cure it, till i did a spin, the heli went all out of shape, and dropped, and im back with very little forward movement, and it just wants to fly backwards, and right again. as a foot note lol, got realflight heli sim, selected the small coaxl, and i just can not get it to hover lol, are all sims like this ?, i can fly the s300, who cant tbh lol, and hover it, but not on the sim....i take it if i can manage to hover any of the other helis, ill be ready to move up. To those who actually read all this, thank you and if needed i will post a vid of what i have described.

Nothing wrong with a coax heli, thats what you have then carry on with until you feel ready for the next heli lika a blade 400 or a trex 250/450.

First off centre all trims and then make sure the swash plate is 100% level then do small flight and see what happerns if the swash plate is 100% level and she moves either forward or back then check that COG is level by moving the battery if possible (or add a small amount of weight if needed to get it level).

You really only need a small amount of trim to hold her in a good hover but she will move a little due to her own displacement caused by her downwash.

This happened to my blade MCX and it turned out that the gears on one of the servos had sheared of . Is it the S300 Blade MCX that you have ? just thought of that . If so its worth a look , the little servos are on the main board and unlike normal size servos that use an arm the little Helis use a Gear Cog on the output shaft . Might be worth a look mate . Rob .

Are we talking about the mCX S300?

If so then the advice may differ as there really isn't much scope, or need, to move the battery around or play with other balancing tricks.

The mCX and derivatives are a great place to start. IMHO possibly the best!

If you mCX is behaving oddly, take a look at the swashplate. The have a tendency to separate, causing all kinds of control issues. You just simply push the two halves back together again.

Many thanks for all your replys, guys, checked everything out, and it was the swashplate that had slightly seperated, and to think i thought that was normal lol, still looks out of shape when i spin it in hover, and if i turn sharply, it didn do that before, but flys again now with the ease of when i purchased it lol. the advice has been great, and dandeman tollerated my lack of knowledge in chat, def thinking of a 400 for my next upgrade, due to the fact it comes with a good tx and is ready to fly, i was also looking at the 450 clones, and thinking i might learn a lot if i built one up whilst practicing with the mcx and the sim, is that a good or bad idea lol

Boomer, first off welcome to RCHA, secondly, you could do a lot worse than the B400 as your step up into the world of 6ch helis. She's a real sweetie once you get to know her, to prove it go on Youtube and look for my username, you'll see my vids from noob right up to my moves over Bretons in Rainham doing a loop. That should give you an idea of what she is like in the hands of a beginner.

When you do though, do yourself a huge favour and get help. I didn't at first, and wish now I had, it would've saved me a lot of heartache just through not knowing my stuff. I wouldn't turn the clock back with the heli though, a lot said I should've got the TRex 450 but no, I love my Blade to pieces. Real sweet.

It's a common problem. Here's how they should look (ignore the oil):

Dont try and fly the co axial model in the sim, its very hard to control (at least for me)

Start out with a big heli, like a Trex700 in the sim, this should give you something fairly stable to practice on.

I dont see the harm in buying a "propper" heli now but make sure you do some research into the best things to buy, as its easy to buy the wrong stuff and waste money.

Personally I dont have enough self control to build a heli and not fly it.
It might be more sensible to wait untill your confident with hovering on the sim before you buy a heli
However it might be worth buying a propper transmitter as you can use this with the sim to practice before you buy your heli.

Swung it for me jbower, the 400 it is, i have watched a lot of vids, i want to progress quickly, but the sim has showed me, that baby steps are needed, but at the same time move forward, im am certainly aware of the costs lol. Thanks for your offer grant, i think pudsy is the nearest good rc shop to me, so will be there soon having a look round, so time to think about my next step, still need more practice, much much more

thanx for the pictures, that is just how it looked, and it now looks like the 1st pic only a lil dryer, i need to oil it up and i think with the sim i can probably buy one and exercise some self control, well would have to charge the bat, turn it on, spin it up, crap myself and turn it all off and wait till my heart calmed down and my confidence was up lol
