and first prang with a G5...
I'm actually not too upset - if at all. More feel dumb for cutting the activities short.
I ran a pack through with training gear on (as I've never been outside before). [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-KIgYa2Vg4"]YouTube - Outrage G5 with Training Gear on 20090502[/ame]
Then pulled the training gear off: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h89LDRW47U"]YouTube - Outrage G5 without Training Gear on 20090502[/ame]
Nothing particularly exciting there.
I guess I then got a bit bored with hovering, and got a bit beyond myself. Dumb, as I know from Phoenix that disorientation is a big problem - which is what happened. One planted G5 later... (see picture of silly grin and broken G5.)
I went in reasonably hard (?), but the damage doesn't seem that bad. Very smashed up blade, very bent mainshaft, stripped main gear, bent flybar, damaged velcro strap (!?!). Bizarrely, the feathering shaft seems ok.
I guess the damage is down to luck, but it seems to have come out pretty well. (£35 ?)
I've now swapped the head, drive gears, etc from my 'spares-kit' G5, and it should soon be set-up again.
It was a calm day, but the G5 was really nice in the hovering stuff I did - though there were a few things to sort out. Given that I doubt I did a particularly thorough or gifted job on set-up (cowboy would be a good description - esp with the DS760 set-up), this says a lot of good about the G5.
In fact, the only negative thing I can say about it is that I felt the need for the 2nd 'spares-kit' one. Which I bet I'll equip & fly too...
