Go for it, That's cheap so see it fly first !! Reading again looks like he can't fly it so have a good long look, you can see damage for sure however, at that price if it needs a few bits................ It sounds too cheap, but go for a look ASAP !
Fly today, tomorrow it may be too late !!

Damn, am I the only person on this forum who has never used a sim?

Must be why my flying is so cr@p!!

        Cheers

PS. I was told by my mentor at my first club to practise, practise and practise again and don't use a sim. Really concentrates the mind when a crash has serious impacts on your wallet.

anybody that says sims are bad doesnt know what they are talking about. I wouldnt be doing what i do now without a sim thats for sure.

you have to use it constructively tho

Thats my only problem, for half an hour everything is fine and then I start buggerin about which leads to lots of crashing & the power off button !

the secret is no more than 15-30mins in one go. as soon as you start messing around stop and go do something else.

do that once or twice a day and your flying will come on quickly.

Similar here, although I bought a cheap PC just to run Reflex and a few other RC related bits of software.

I find the Sim doesn't work that well for me at all, I do use it but it's the lack of peripheral vision and the ability to look around that screws my head up. It has taught me a bit but so far I've learnt more by just burning packs

When I started the sims were terrible.

I'm sure they are a lot better now but if I was starting over again, I don't believe you can beat a go with an experienced pilot and training undercarriage.

Surely you would advocate that over a beginner siting at home in front of a computer wouldn't you?

Yes, I bow to your greater ability than I am ever likely to achieve and agree with you that a sim is a useful tool to further your flying ability but surely a beginner would be better off even with a small electric than a sim?

In my mind it would be like learning to drive on a computer, the real learning comes on the road.

                          Just my 2p.

                          Cheers

good point..then pilots also learn on a simulater.

having said that the only sim i have is FMS and its a load of pants so dont use it much if at all.

I agree that a sim is a very good idea so don't get me wrong especially if you have the real thing to go and try as well.

I just think that a beginner with a couple of hundred pounds might get more enjoyment out of a small electric heli than a pc sim. It seems that every time a beginner asks for advice about which Heli to go for they are automatically told to buy a sim.

Lets not forget that this hobby is supposed to be FUN!!!!

                              Cheers

the initial learning to hover bit is where a lot of the bad habbits start. so yes your right i do prefer to get my hands on them first.

hate training undercarridges tho. definitely the most expensive and long winded way to learn to hover.

i would rather see somebody get the basics down on a simulator than try and go without on training skids.

Also, once you get beyond the hover and into circuits i can give people the general idea as to how to do something, they go away and get it going on the sim then i help them tidy it up and transfer to the real thing.

if my intermidiate customers spent all their learning time with me i would be a millionaire...
