Hey All, I've just joined this fab group and I hope that I'm welcome. I'm a beginner and I'm going to buy the Eflite Blade 400 3d 2.4ghz Spektrum DX6I helicopter. Are there any concerns that I should know about please? Oh just to let you know I'm going to use the training ball thingy that attaches to the bottom so I can't crash the heli. What do you think about the battery that comes with the package? Do you think I should get a better li-po. I'm all new with this. Hope to hear from you all ttyl.

    Hi Jayme and welcome!

Is this your very first heli? Have you used any simulators before?

Hi Martin, Thanks for the welcome its nice to meet you. Well I have a fixed heli which I haven't yet flown due to this snow but the Eflite Blade 400 will be a backup for when I'm better at control plus it will have the training kit added to it so hovering will be ok for me till I'm use to it.

OK - which fixed heli do you have? (I assume you mean fixed pitch?).

I'm not really qualified to answer your question on the battery but there are lotsa of people that can advise you. However, I would always recommend more than 1 battery. You will only get 8-10 minutes of flight from any battery so always good to have a backup

Heya and welcome to the nuthouse ...TBH the blade is a good heli for a beginner .. but I would get some more lipos and also a better charger to go with it ... At least then ya not stuck waiting for it to charge for days on end with the stock charger .. And also get someone to set it up and test fly it for you as well ... Apart from letting the motor cool down between flights there not alot up with the blade as a starter heli ...

hi and welcome to the forum
you would benifit from a simulator, phoenix is great for heli's.
dont put all your faith in training gear it wont stop you crashing or make it easier to fly it will only help with bad landings.
the blade 400 is a great little helicopter. the std battery is ok but only good for about 5min flights. there are plenty of cheap alternatives

              Welcome Jayme.

You will almost certainly be buying more batts for your heli. 8 mins of flying followed by an hour of charging plays on the nerves. You will prob end up with three or four!

Anyway. Hope you enjoy the hobby.

Welcome from another newbie. I will say what most people here will: - get a copy of Phoenix Sim, and practice! It's working for me - well, slowly

                        Welcome!!!

Many will be right to recommend you use your DX6i transmitter on Phoenix RC sim. If you select the Align T-rex 450 model you'll get a very close experience to your Blade 400.

I would recommend perfecting a maneuver within the sim first then progress onto the real thing...

                        Good Luck!!

Aww thanks guys for all of your warm comments. Could you recommend a good charger please and I can't afford £45 per each eflite li-po. Do you know any cheap good quality batteries?. I can't play phoenix sim on my linux laptop and my desktop only has a geforce mmx 440 graphics card. The fixed pitch heli that I have is from ebay its Dragon fly rc helicopter UK1691PNK from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dragon-Fly-RC-...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm afraid the words cheap and heli don't go too well together
