After my post about my Wallpaper/Walkera incident I thought I'd better say hello properly now that I've survived the week and look as if I might get away with it.
My name is Pete and I'm a HeliAddict, Have been since the 70s when I first flew in the back seat of an Army Scout on Salisbury Palin while the pilot demonstrated Nap Of the Earth manouvers. Since then I've had the good fortune to fly in a whole range of military helis of all three services along with some civilian ones. I applied for AAC pilot training but didnt pass, we shant go into that one, was gutted.
Since leaving the forces (to work in I.C.T.) I've had some PPL training on planks and even had two lessons in a R44 for a special birthday present from my family, bless em. I cant really afford the PPL route and was disappointedly giving the whole thing up as a pipe dream when I stumbled across modern RC helicopters while on the Hovercontrol Flight Sim site, (which is also great). Since then I've been avidly reading everything I can lay my hands on or find on the net. For me this site stood out from the others, as the amount of information freely and happily provided to even the newbiest of beginners was amazing. The generosity of some members is an example of what is best about internet communities.
Anyway, I dropped some hints before Christmas and was stoked to receive a Walkera 4#3Q, an IR 2 Channel heli and some funds towards something bigger. So for me the story starts here and I'm very happy to have found and joined this site and hope to be able to participate usefully along with sponging up all the info I can.
Pete
