  • new and need help plz

i am relitively new to heli flying and have been flying a cx2 since christmas last year. i am now looking at getting a new heli. i have been looking at getting a kit because i also do modelling and a friend told me that it might be a little bit the same (getting hands on and putting it together). the kit i was looking at was a Trex450SE GF. i would like to fly it with 2.4ghz but not sure how this all works. do i buy a transmitter with reciever and servos or do i need to get something else to fly it in 2.4ghz. do i need a specifi gyro too?

    thanks

you can fly the trex with 2.4 ghz thats not a problem you have a couple of choices as to what you can buy either a spektrum dx7 or dx6 the dx7 is a channel system allowing you to use a govener if you choose to buy a nitro heli later it also has a few more features, the other option is to buy a futaba fasst radio setup i don't know much about it as i use spektrum myself. you can buy either radio set with a transmitter and reciever or you can get one with servos although they will not be suitable to the trex so i'd suggest buying them as just transmitter / reciever combo, you will need to get a heading hold gyro most people opt for the futaba gy401 as it is pretty good the other option is a spartan gyro which is a little more expensive but worth it if you can afford it. your best bet with servos for the trex would be hitec hs-65mg servos for the cyclic ( you need 3) and a futaba s9257 for the tail.

to give you an example my setup on my dragonus (450 size heli) is 3 hs65mg servos, a futaba s3154 on the tail and a futaba gy401 gyro, i am also using the spektrum dx7 radio for all my helis

Probably better off going with a spartan 760 gyro if you can get hold of one. The GY401 is set to rise in price (if it hasnt already). Never heard anything about the Spartan one going up in price??? For the very few extra quid the spartan 760 will perform excellent on any helicopter you wish to progress on to. Well worth the extra pennies trust me And a hell of alot better than a GY401. Id go for a Spektrum DX7 TX (Transmitter) with AR6200 RX (Receiver). For servos go with what glen said and grab some Hitec 65MG's or theres the much better new digital versions of the same servo the 5065 MG's. Few quid more each but will be worth it in the long run as there more precise etc. Batteries is really a choice you have to make yourself. They vary in price and performance. Id recommend the Outrage packs or Revolectrix at this time. You'll need a good charger, go for a Cellpro 4s or if ya wanna jump in at the deep end because you plan on progressing onto other bigger helis then go for the 10S. Buy once buy right is the motto round here.

Absolutely although it seems that spares are more freely available for the Align helicopters. However the Mini Titan does look nice...
