Firstly welcome to the forum and no question is to small we all started somewher. Is it an Intel Mac ? A few mac users on here and they will be better place to advise on these things than me. For a simulator you want to go for Phoenix

But we have the mac issue to overcome, unless you also have a PC.

The only place I have a PC is at a client's site and I don't think learning to fly a helicopter when I should be maintaining their web sites would go down too well.

It is an Intel Mac yes and I do know I could BootCamp it or even use some VM software to create a Virtual Windows machine but to be honest I don't really want to fork out for Windows XP just to run a RC Flight Sim if I can help it.

Welcome to the forum MeestorMac,
unfortunately it is likely you have damaged more than just the flybar and push rods. for eg. the main shaft and feathering spindle, so you will need to check these.

The control issues may be just down to lack of experience. I remember thinking my heli had problems the first few times I was handed the transmitter, and wondered how it could ever be controlled.

You will get the hang of it evntually especially if you can find a suitable simulator, and in the meantime check those other bits for damage.#

Bit of a noob question here where would I find the "feathering spindle" ?

Going to strip it down now and check the main shaft.

If the shaft is straight, what else would cause vibration?

hi meestormac welcome to the forum if it is an fp it wont have a feathering shaft as such. just check the head between the blade securing bolts( thats were it would be)

Feathering spindle or shaft is the one that runs horizontal between the blade grips.

the feathering spindle is what passes through the head and hold the rotor grips

1 last thing, the honeybee came with a USB adaptor for the controller and a flightsim which is all well and good but I'm a Mac user. Are there any decent RC Flight Sim's for the Mac? (which I could use the controller with)

MeestorMac, welcome to the forum, and trust me NO **** taken here. Well a bit of banter maybe!

I'm also relatively new to the hobby and if I may suggest whilst you are rebuilding your Honeybee which I really feel for you. Remember “Fly, break, Mend” and so on………

IMHO buy a coaxial very stable Heli. This will allow you to learn the basics of 4 channel flying, gaining confidence to progress to the next stage of fixed pitched helis like the Honey bee.

Not forgetting the ever popular Phoenix Simulator to give you that added help.

There’s so much starter/beginner advice on this forum if you search for it and ask questions. Take the hobby slowly as I'm trying to do learn from experience!

Thanks for the advice from you all and from the number of posts I think we have established where the feathering spindle is / should be.

Eddie, thanks for the post. Currently I don't have the budget for another heli so I will have to stick it out with he HoneyBee hopefully with some persistence and maybe a few more spare parts added I'll be able to master hovering and even moving in a controlled manner. Then I will move up to a larger helicopter, which after reading some threads on here I now know these are easier to control than the little ones.

I've checked the main shaft and there is no visible bend in it.
