how do you clean threadlock/loctite off the nuts and bolts?

I heat them up a wee bit with a lighter then give them a wipe with a cloth!

This tip saved me a lot of hassel - used my gas soldering iron / torch and saved me wrecking the components using brute force. Align was a bit messy on the tail assembly - too much threadlock.

I use brake cleaner but I will try the lighter and cloth method as thinners smell bad.

I think the real trick is to only use a small ammount

Will keep this tip in mind, I only put a dab on the end of the thread and as it winds in it carries the threadlock with it

Just need to make sure you don't anneal the end of the bolt tho, eh?

With a lighter? Annealing doesn't take place in carbon steels until at least 600 to 700 degrees celsius. Thats the material not the heat source. All based on carbon content which dictates the available hardness ability of the steel!

ahhh bugger! Well, got 99% there and made a little mistake of removing a ball link after a little too much threadlock was applied ........

all this and a postal strike thursday and friday!

What is the best option to remove the offending piece left in the swash?

Also, anyone know of a shop in London that will carry 450 sport parts?

You could heat it up then use a very small drill and it may just twist out easily with the motion of the drill.
