jmac, I will sell you mine for 5000,

Maybe it was a bad choice of words, but I don't realy care...........
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

      Hi Troggmaster

Have a look at the CSM HL200 HH gyro as well.

This does not require an additional channel so you can keep your Tx.

Also, it is cheap at about 50 and would be a good intro to HH gyros as its very easy to set up. I am using mine with a Futaba 9404 high speed servo and an NHP tail mount.

I am fitting one for the first time myself having only ever flown with the old Futaba gyro over four years ago.

      Hope this is of help.

      Cheers

I am in surrey (nr Camberley) and used to fly a FF6 with a CSM400 HH gyro, now fly a Raptor 50 with FF9 and 401 gyro... I would be happy to help you out if you like.

As for local places, some people fly at Chobham Common. I have flown my heli there as well as my planes. I also fly at Hanworth model club (www.hamfc.co.uk) heading into London a little. There are a few heli people there most weekends.

Let me know if I can help out

Forgot to mention that the FF6 can switch the HH using the Channel 5 switch to control AVCS or not on the 401 (or any other dual mode gyro).

When I was flying the FF6 I had HH on Ch5 and a governor (TJPro) set manually to control the head speed.

If you do go for a HH gyro remember to disable the Revo mixing on the transmitter. The HH takes care of the tail without any other mixing required.

I take it you mean the GY240 ? This is a single mode gyro so you dont need to worry about using Ch5 for switching the HH (AVCS) on and off etc.

I am not familiar with the GY240 but having had a quick look at the manual on the Futbaba-rc.com web site it would appear that you can manually switch the AVCS funtion on and off with the small switch on the unit.
The gain also appears to be set manually with the POT next to the AVCS switch.

Yes apologies, Futaba ops: Futbaba seems to be quite a common type, did a search on Google

                          I have a 240 on a raptor, gain comes out about 55% using a 1700 headspeed
One thing I think isnt in manual, if you are in heading hold and have to reposition the heli for take off, then move the rudder stick quickly left-right and to the end of travel 3 or more times, this will recenter the unit avoiding any quick spin on spool up.
I leave it in heading hold all the time, its a good little gyro

This is why I normally take off in normal mode and switch in the 401 once in a stable hover... the kick as the skids leave the ground can be unnerving, sound advice I think. The 401 is certainly a lot better than the CSM400 for this anyway

What headspeed were you running to induce the CSM400 to kick. I've got one on one of my R60's and with a headspeed of 1700, didn't have any problems with the gyro.

I did not like using HH, but use it now with my MD500 as the fus acts like a big sail.

Blimey... it was on my old Nexus, think it was about 1550 but may have been lower. Never did trust the old design helis at high head speeds
