im new to r.c helicopters but am looking forward to flying one of these machines I have purchased a project which I would love to finish, I have experience of motor mechanics and electrical systems so thought I would try and rebuilt this, I have purchase a model flight helicopter with an Irvine motor and futaba electronics and is an 8 channel im not sure of the age of this heli but I would assume its not the latest model can anyone tell me how I can identify the model and if I can obtain a wiring diagram it is in pretty good condition or so it seems to my amateurish eye and would appreciate any help in rebuilding this fine machine.
    awaiting anyones earliest reply gerry

    Welcome to Heliaddicts Gerry

A a picture would help identify your helicopter.

for a wiring diagram look up the transmitter manual or one from the dame make and it will show you what wires to plug into the rx
as again the link doesn't work and a picture will halp to identify the model

Wiring is pretty standard. The first thing I'd check is the Tx battery, and then the Rx battery. You should be able to get the servos working from the Tx by wiggling the sticks.

Do you have the name of the Tx or Rx?

Next you could do a range check. There is a lot to learn. You might find things easier by buying a new small electric heli that will come with all instructions.

Welcome. The pictures have not been attached properly so we cannot help. Is it all old equipment? 35Mhz or 2.4Ghz?

it is a mfa sport 500 by the looks of it

i would advise that you look at learning to fly with a more modern helicopter that you can obtain spare parts for
as whilst learning you will more than likely damage the helicopter and with the mfa the only places you might get spares is ebay

with the mfa i'd restore the heli to a flying condition and set your goal to being good enough to fly it

It's before my time flying helis but Google tells me that it's an MFA Sport 500 Collective from around 1989 or so.

25 years is a very long time in the RC heli hobby. Technology has moved on in giant leaps, so your old heli and the radio is very outdated and no longer supported with spare parts. If you are seriously interested in taking up the hobby then I'd also agree with previous post that you would be far better getting a much newer heli and radio system. If you want to resore this heli as a project in it's own right then fair enough, but in terms of getting into the hobby it's a bit of a dead end.
