I'm charging the batts now, I need another charger that's for certain, can you please tell me, I'm charging my 2100mah 20-30C batts at 1amp, is that OK or could I go 1.5 amps without damaging the battery packs?

i'm not great with battery numbers etc wayne but i believe you can divide the mah by 1000 and charge up to that as a maximum setting. so 2100divide by 1000 = 2.1 amps

Thanks mate, I'm sitting here almost willing the batt to charge quicker, just finished my first maxpoly's, second on charge now...come on you bloody thing.

This weekend I purchased all the fine tool pliers needed to fix and repair the heli, last week my Align hex set arrived, plus I also got the Align Phillips screwdriver set with a 1.5mm hex, this'll come in real handy as the hex set also has a 1.5mm so I have two good gripped hex tool's for when I need a Feathering shaft replacement.

Ordered also the Align bearing remover for the plastic main drive cogs, Pip showed me how it was done, and that little gadget makes what a pain in the arse job could be into a piece of cake.

Also under his tuition I changed the main shaft and main gear so I'm learning where and how all the bits come on and off.

But in general it's just so satisfying knowing you've achieved something, I remember when I first started using Phoenix that I thought the program was faulty as my 450 on it kept drifting off, and no matter what I done back then I couldn't get the hang of it.

Now I'm flying the real thing, OK tail in but I'm moving her forward and backwards too, joke being I can make my 450 fly back easier than I could in Phoenix.

I tell ya mate, I wish you could feel this good and pumped up all the time.

Great news and welll done Wayne, I get just the same buzz myself!

With charging your batteries, Ron is right, you can charge them at 1C (ie 2.1amps for a 2100maH battery). That will give them a capacity charge. I then give mine a slower top-up charge at say 0.5 - 0.8 amp to full charge. btw I use an Imax B5 charger, which senses when approaching full charge and slows the charge rate down as appropriate. The less amps that you charge the battery at the better they'll take that charge - the downside is the waiting. It is fine to charge them at 1C for a few charges, but advisable to slow the charge rate down every half dozen or so cycles. They don't need to be balance-charged every time, again every half dozen or so times is ok.

I've only a very basic Li Po charger and balancer, it seems to do a decent job, I had 10 minutes hovering from each Maxpoly and my Align batt.

With my charger I have no option but to balance charge, so being new to this am I right in thinking if I do a 1.5-2amp charge a few times make sure the next one is a trickle charge like 500mah or even 1amp

My charger is a green Prolux charger and balancer, once it's gained saturation voltage the balancer flashes LED's to tell you what cells are being charged and balanced, and I have a little red LED volt testing gadget that tells you the charge in each cell, and it seems to keep them all charged correctly.

It's the perfect little field charger, but I will be buying a better one later one
