But my point, is that the mSR and X are a good choice for a beginner indoor heli…

You seem to keep dismissing that on the basis of things you have read. I am sat here, with first hand experience, telling you that the mSR IS a good choice for a beginner… not just intermediate. Because i started, as a beginner, with an mSR. So it must be possible right?! Because i did it… The nQX is also an option. Im not denying that at all. But you seem to still be suggesting they are not good for a beginner?! Just intermediate? Well, maybe i was intermediate from the off then. Because it worked well for me 4 years ago… and I'm a pretty capable 3d pilot now so it must have done some good.

All that proves is what a great heli pilot you are, Sane.

Some people get on well with certain helicopters, others don't.

I am still plodding round doing circuits and eights, all upright. The easiest helicopter I have ever flown is my 700.

      It takes all sorts.

I had a look at KL model shop it was the bind model,

yes I am looking forward to some nice models in future when I learn to fly, really looking forward to get srx200 in the air properly.

I very quickly bought a DX6i a few days after i bought the mSR to replace it and was amazed by how much difference it made in terms of precision of inputs and programmable options. You can progress onto the Nano as you say But you have a good tool for practising orientations for sure.

I will be looking later for something like DX6i seems to be a must ,

the msr will give me what I need for now, in relation to flying the srx200,

Its worth keeping an eye on eBay for the DX6i. I picked one up for £45 which is like new. It made flying the msr and x more enjoyable, plus your covered for future models, not forgetting using it with a sim.

What tx are you using to fly at the moment? You can have my DX8 for free if you want. It has been sat doing nothing for 3 years bless it. Might as well go to a good home. It still worked fine when i last used it. It would need a replacement aerial though but they are fairly cheap as i remember... I'm not sure if i have the charge adapter… i will have a look. But as i say, you can have it for free if you want.

              Cheers for that.

No worries at all mate. Happy for it to go to someone that is bitten and wants to get cracking. I can't stand the thought of someone flying with those horrible stock Blade tx. You will be so much more into it when you fly with a proper tx.

I have found the neckstrap too. I will get a charge in it using my Dx18 charger, if its compatible, which i think it is, then programme it up with the stock mSR settings if you want, so you don't struggle to get it programmed properly

Pm me you postal details and i will let you know when i have sent it

I think you totally missed my point on this thread.

I didn't dismiss anything at all, you did that! I just offered an alternative based on my own first hand experience as a beginner. For me it was a close call between the mSRX and nQX, I chose the latter based on plenty of good advice on this forum and it turned out to be a really good choice too. As you completely dismissed the nQX, I thought I would challenge your view based on my own experience as a beginner. You see I'm in exactly the same position as honwal at this point and the nQX has worked really well for me alongside the sim. It's even got the same brain as the 200 SRX, which I'm planning to get next.

Now I'm sure the mSR will be great too, but like everything, it will have its pros and cons and you only have to read other recent beginners' experiences to weigh them up against viable newer alternatives like the nQX. That's all I did and thought I would put forward my experience of the latter. Now if the nQX had turned out to be rubbish, or not up to the job of learning orientation skills, I would have agreed with your initial post.

Dx8 has cleaned up like new screen was just a bit dirty. Charging it now for you…. i think my settings for the mSR will still be in there from back in the day, but will double check once it is charged up and make sure it is all as it should be.

Let me know if you would like me to send it via Horizon Hobby Uk through my LHS to give it a health check and fit a new aerial for you and update the firmware as required. Or if you just want me to send it straight to you. The aerial itself is fine, but the join in the middle of the plastic case has broken, although it does "sit" ok where it is if you know what i mean. Think a new aerial is a tenner or something...

Ok Pete. I accept i was rash in dismissing the nQX before fully taking on board your first hand experience of it as a beginner.

I apologise to you and myxiplx for dismissing it out of hand

I can see from my earlier post after it was suggested that i came across rude perhaps in how i dismissed it. But, that post was slightly tongue in cheek…..

I guess…. the truth of it is really….. i have an irrational, unreasonable, possibly obsessive hatred of Quads…….. wait…. thats it… I hate Quads?…!? I hate Quads Yes thats it I just really hate Quads…...

Mum…. Dad… I hate quads (running down the middle of the road) I HATE QUADS…. …. everyone…?!!! I HATE QUADS…. you there boy (i say leaning out of my snowy window addressing the shaggy looking child outside) Yes sir he replies….. I HATE QUADS i gleefully shout from the window… P*ss off you weirdo he says……

Seriously though. I may have let my own personal hatred of the quad overcome my sense of reason and i apologise if i came across closed minded to your experience

Just because you are a beginner, does not make your experience any less valid than mine as a 3d pilot. That is a bad attitude to portray and hope it didn't come across like that

No worries SaneAdam! Awesome post, had me in stitches

The irony is that I actually hate quads too, or at least they leave me a bit cold. They do nothing for me on the visual front. But this one flies great every time and is quickly teaching me the skills I need to progress and it's fun blasting it around the house without worrying about damaging the furniture/kids etc. Think I will probably get a nCPX next as helis are what I'm really into. But this little quad has given me the confidence and hopefully the quick reactions to make that next step.

Many thanks Mike. I am not sure i entirely deserve one lol But thank you.

I love this hobby and i am more than happy to give a little back to encourage even one more person to fall down the rabbit hole as deep as i have. I remember the difference a decent tx made to me.

I would get so much more back out of knowing that someone was getting to go through the exciting stages of progression and reward, than having a few quid extra back to probably spend on something mundane like… oven chips or something.

                                Happy flying
