Cheers bud', I've just ordered a Hitec 55 Servo just in case it is a servo issue.

Honestly mate cram in as much sim time as you can, basically when you can do stupid things to a heli on phoenix, then recover easily bring her in for a gentle landing everytime, you know your getting there.

But honestly it was like being inside the simulator, she controlled just the same as my cyber space heli, I've gained over 100+ hours practice on Phoenix, I managed four 30 second tail in hovers once I gained a bit of confidence and took that leap of faith, everything I've learned on Phoenix just came together.

I also always have a 5 KPH wind strength in Phoenix, and today was a little windy, man I can't wait to fly on one of the three huge flying areas located in my area.

Sorry to go on still buzzing here, lol.

          Wayne,

Congrats on your maiden flight mate, good to hear its going well!

I think what may have happened was a servo took a shock when big ted bought it. I totally forgot to check the servo's after all the exitement.

It sounds like the servo has now given up. I do have a spare and will swap it out for you, I will be home from tomorrow evening.

Hope this helps, sounds like you are really having fun anyway!

Many thanks Phil, I think I broke my Heli flying Cherry well in today, OK it wasn't pretty flying but she came out the other end unscathed.

Mike cheers too bud' or OB1 as I think I'll call you now, lol, I couldn't resist any longer and I thought shit or bust, but after mastering the skidding around on the patio (like the gym) she was off, the key I found was don't pee about while spoiling up, get her up safely and quick, then control the cyclic.

I'll give you a call tomorrow evening around 8(Ish) if that's OK, oh yea before I forget, Big Ted ordered a new HT-55 from Elite this afternoon just in case it was knacked.

hi mate your having a great time , well i have been there myself & i like to hover in a small space where next door cant see me haha & as i like to trim me dads rose bush & land on the hedge all under control of coarse when its windy as they tend to float up & down a bit , but it is exciting , keep going mate , get a another heli so that way you wont get board & fix one fly one its something ill be doing ,now ive had the bug & cant get rid lol

Thank you Jim, your a good chap.

I'll own up, the reason I had a go in my garden was because I was scared of looking a twat in the large square which my estate surrounds, I wish I had have done now.

Yes a second 450 is on the cards quite soon, with all the lovely Hitec-65's with there metal gearing a nice 401 gyro...I can't wait.

Mastering the T/coaxials was great, but nothing like today, I can honestly say I've shred a lot of fear for taking her up the next time.

cambs flyer hi yes that sounds right to me as me dad said take it to the end of the garden , at which i said no as im trying to set the 401 & don't want to look a plonker if next-door seas me bin it , at which he said they wont bother looking , well im the one with a big red puss if i crash haha, any way mate myself & my good friend lee have been having a chat & his been helping me all the way with the min t , really big time help & if it was not for him , my heli would be in a bag now, im getting a rappy 50 & his helping to put me on the right road for my next heli so i ow him a big thanks realy & the other members here to for all the help . so i think you should consider something bigger than 450 size for your next one mate as the bigger heli is more stable .

                    Hi Jim

Yes mate I've thought about a bigger heli, but to be honest the 450's are nice and stable, and the battery packs are dirt cheap, as are the spares, £8.99 for 325 pro's, if i got through a pair a week it wouldn't be a concern.

I do plan at some stage having a Trex 500 but until the static problem is resolved that's on the back burner.

I haven't dismissed the thought of a Nitro machine, but councils don't look kindly on gas powered machines in public areas my way, but the electrics can be flown anywhere inside and out, plus I'm building up a nice collection of Li-Po's so flying time won't be an issue.

Best of luck with our projects, the Raptors are mean and impressive machines, very nice indeed.

It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one worried about looking a plonker crashing, I guess taking a leaf out your dad's book and basically thinking sod it is a good attitude too take.

I know what you mean by the larger more stable factor with the bigger machines, but the Trex 450's are so nicely made and very stable too.

Being an electric flyer for me right now I'd rather have two smaller helis with twice the amount of batts then a larger one and only having half the flight time, once the conservatory and spa bath is completed, and more funds are available then a larger rota will be on my shopping list.

Best thing you can do is to get yourself to Warboys airfield on a Sat morning. Theres a good club there and they can help and possibly give you some tuition. I work just down the road in Ramsey if you need any help.

I too took a leap yesterday after 2 weeks of hovering in the garden, finally took my 450 to the playing field and started proper FF. Had to stop after 2 packs due to nerves but that'll wear off with practice. Anyway I don't wanna ditch my lovely R60 too soon lol.

Thanks Andy nice one mate, again there's a few this end who hopefully will get together every so often as in my village, 100 yards from my Drum is a massive playing field, just grass no swings, and its pretty empty most of the time, plus another grass field the other end of the village which isn't used often

Plus my sister-in-law has a paddock the size of a gym and next to it is a field which could swallow a small village which I have permission to fly on, also its away from public eyes which is great.

It would be cool to have a group that meets up every other week say and fly's in different areas.

With the warboys club is there a fee to join?

Bloody well done with your 450 yesterday, I bet the high afterwards was fantastic, I know I haven't been as excited over something as much as this since I don't know when.

They have a website, although it does look a little 'planker old fart' but i'm sure they fly heli's there too.

The next best is Stansted, but then thats my club so I would say that , well not MY club but i'm a member , great guy called Steve there who is willing to train heli flyers.
