No idea mate, I've just connected the batt again and now the fast clicking sound is slowing down, sounds if its dieing if you was to ask me.

Something somewhere is very wrong here, as I say had i crashed her I could understand it, but all shes had is a few fairly hard landings on grass from under two feet at most.

If its any help, I have my 450XL sitting idle at the moment.

I could send you the ESC which you are welcome to try just to rule it out?

It has 4mm banana plugs on but I'm about to put a deans connector on it. What do you use?

OK I've played with the throttle while the throttle hold is on and the servo that the throttle is connected to is the one making all the noise.

If you put full throttle on it starts dancing if you bring the throttle full down fast then center position it stops.

and so long as the throttle doesn't go any higher than half way its OK, once you go over and start hitting the high end of the throttle that servo starts making a din.

          Completely lost for ideas here

Thanks Mark, it has bananas one end and deans for the batt, do you think it could be the ERSC conking out mate?

I'm a little confused myself now.

The 450 XL does not use a servo for the throttle as this is plugged directly into the ESC.

I would locate the servo making the noise, follow the wire to the receiver and disconnect it.

Then plug in again and see if the noise goes. If so, then it may just be that servo has given up.

The trick with electrics is to systematically rule out things causing a problem.

If you go over half throttle with throttle hold on, then the throttle is still on zero (otherwise the blades will turn.)

This suggests that it is one of the other servo's causing a problem.

If I took a photo of the servo giving me grief would that help?

I have to say i wondered myself why this servos moving while the throttle is being moved up and down, i know its had the CCPM conversion but hell if I know.

I would link the lead to the RX but Pip's made a nice neat cable tidy job on all the leads and to find it without undoing all the loops would be a bastard.

when you turn the rotas in the direction by hand that also moves the rear rotas there's a noise

Imagine being on a train going slow as the wheels go over the tracks where they meet, and you get that tic tic......tic tic sound, thats whats coming from my 450, is that normal (in the anti clockwise rotation?)

Sorry about the descriptions but it's the only way I know how to make them understandable via text.

Moving the throttle up with throttle hold engaged will make all three CCPM servos move the swash plate up the main shaft. If this is happening then great.

Then check that left, right, forward and back of the cyclic (right stick) also moves the swash plate in the correct direction. Each time listening for any strange noise.

If all is okay, then it may be a simple mechanical problem not electrical that we are seeing.

The clicking when turning the blades occurs when powered off?

Yes, but the servo thats playing up must be an electrical fault as it goes like crazy in very fast small movements.

As I say mate I'm completely out of my depth here, I wouldn't know where to start.

I know I'll be seeing Pip hopefully in a few days but it would have been nice to solve it with your kind help before hands.

I'm annoyed as the winds dropped off even more now, and I have three Li Po's just aching to be used, and this has happened, as I say had it been a crash far enough, I guess these are the problems that face anyone in this hobby and you learn as you go on.

I live in Chatteris which is a half way house between Ely and Huntington if coming in from the A10 eEy turn off.

But thats a hell of a drive mate, many thanks but I couldn't expect you to come all that way.

I have to say regardless of this issue right now it's given me one hell of a buzz knowing I can actually keep one of these things in the air, as this was my first time outside other than on Phoenix

Thankfully all the training seems to have paid off keeping here tail in, OK not for very long as I ran out space very quickly in my garden but to be halted for no apparent reason is a real ****er.

Its sure is, trouble being now I've had a taster and can no longer fly due to technical difficulties, is a real killer.

But confidence wise its great, to actually see a 450 hover back and forth in your garden and I was in control was awesome, I know I've got a very long and enjoyable way to go yet, but finding yourself in control for the first time for real and letting the hours of training tell you what to do and it worked, was the high of highs.

No doubt had this not happened, by now I'd be cursing the charger for not being quicker.
