When you say "the wrong way around", do you mean "upside down" or the blade intended for the left is on the right and vice-versa?

The only thing I've done to this Heli since I bought it is take the ESC out and sever the cable ties so I can re-train the wires (I get a bit OCD about that kind of thing!)

The main rotor spins clockwise when looking at it from above, so the rounded leading edge of the blades faces the other way, in that pic the paddles are facing correctly for clockwise rotation but the blades are fitted for anticlockwise rotation, they just need to be flipped over.

Looks like a nice carbon pushrod!! With that size heli it should be a good item. I use them unaided up to 600.

I completely disconnected the wires, re-routed them through the chassis so that they didn't foul any of the cogs etc, flipped the blades over and now I have an incredibly noisy fan in my front room!

I'm hoping to take it outside to Maiden it tomorrow, however I'm slightly concerned that as I spin it up faster and faster it starts to pirouette on the carpet instead of wanting to lift.

I followed the guide videos at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxWhzYzMEPY starting with Episode one and working my through them but I'm not convinced my servos are wired the right way around as they seem to be whining when I plug in the battery (something I know from other projects often means they're trying to work against too much force).

The weather for tomorrow is looking dry but windy (9mph gusting to 20mph at times) but I'll give it a go anyway and see what happens!

First some servos will whine when on but you get to know the difference between stalling and just noisy.

Servo reversing is done in the Radio.

Which way does it piro? I assume the opposite to blade rotation. Which can be because the servo is working in reverse or the gyro is working the servo the wrong way. I look at which way the rudder servo arm goes with right stick input. Remove main blades or go with care unless using a small Tx only battery and with a tail blade set like a boat rudder check that right rudder stick input moves the 'rudder' blade so as to turn the bird like a boat would turn. Once right is right then you can check the gyro is doing the same for you by moving the little ship left (like left turn) and that the servo arm moves as if to turn right like in above with stick input.

Looks like the gyro sense probably needs to be reversed. Either that or the gain is way way too low.

sure enough, the Gyro was already set to "reverse".

I've switched it back around to "normal" and it seems to be improved although it is still turning against the direction of the main rotors.

I'm now wondering if it's the settings on my DX6i so I'll take a look at those over the next few days and see what I can get out of them.

I'm also thinking it's time to get a DX6i->USB dongle and a flight sim so I can check the control settings *before* I go outside!

TBH Matt I expected a more violent piro but as you have improved it then it seems the diagnosis was right. I am curious as to what the tail blade position is at mid (rudder) stick. This is something I check on the bench with the rudder into the Rx directly then, with the gyro in play, I use rate mode as this returns the servo to centre. At centre I tend to like a little bit of right turn setting on the blades, about 4° or so.

Keep in mind that video is with the throttle at less than 25% - when I increase the throttle it is incredibly violent!

I think I'm going to have to read up more on the Gyro, however my time without the family is coming to an end so I probably won't get to it for another few weeks now.
