  • Which 1st Time Indoor Heli - help

Hi I know this has been posted 1000 times. Here is my dilema'
I am after a heli which can be flown indoors, suitable for 1st timer, preferably about £70 max, or may go 2nd hand off ebay, or just ebay discounted. Looking on forums I came up with a list, yes they vary a lot in quality and cost, really after the best I can for the budget
    Twister Medivac
    CX2
    Lama V3
    E-Sky Honey Bee

Not sure which I should go for unless you have any other suggestions, also I note on ebay some shops say the Lama V3 is 3 channel others say 4!! So what should I go for under £70, pref a buy it now from ebay as my cash is in paypal.
    thanks

bell 47 is real good fun,,,,,but the cx2 does have the edge

they both do the same thing pretty much so you carnt go wrong, unless you get the honey bee that is !!

          cheers,

Twister is in your price range, and is OK.
CX2 is about 50 quid above it, but is the better, tx is 2.4GHz.

                  Transmitter - Tx
                  Receiver - Rx

2.4Ghz means you wont get interference from other peoples transmitters, causing possible damage to your Heli thriough loss of control. It happened to my Twister, another Tx was switched on while I was flying......mine promptly flew into a wall!
                  2.4GHz no such worries.
I since converted my Twister to 2.4GHz.

I thought I would never be able to fly indoors with my 4 channel walkera Dragonfly. But to my amazement I can take off from the coffee table and hover about no probs now even do pirouettes lol but only after spending a good 3/4 months smashing it up in the garden and going through a helluva lot of spares learning to fly the thing. I wasn't keen on the contra rotating malarky as I wanted a 'proper' type heli with main n rear rotors but I must admit the CX2 does look cool and a good bit of fun for indoor flying and it will definitely be alot easier to fly about. Go for it.

                    I use a CX2 canopy on my DF4 lol

                        lama v4

What about the Lama 4 ? I see it new on ebay with TX and complete set, for around 55-60 quid. It's a 4 channel, contra type. I just have not got enough experience with anything to advise for or against.

The only reason I know about this, is that my friend is looking for one, and in the same pricerange (max 70 quid).

Quote from the ebay seller :

                        In the Box
                        • Full RC system set
                        • Pre-installed ESKY 8g servos and 4-in-1 control unit
                        • Dual 180 motors makes the LamaV4 powerful and efficient.
                        • 800mAh 2-cell Li-Po battery
                        • Transmitter: Standard 4 CH
                        • Mix controller: 4 in 1 controller W/gyro, mixer, ESC, receiver
                        • Servos: 8g, 1.3kg. CM, 0.12s/60°
                        • Instruction Manual
                        • UK Battery Charger
                        • Spare Blades
                        • USB Simulator Cable
                        • USB Simulator Software
Can anyone tell me why this is more than 50 quid cheaper than the cheapest CX2 when the description pretty much puts it in the same league as the CX2 ? I dont want to tell my friend to get it and then its rubbish.

                        Thanks!

its not rubbish they are perfectly good heli's.
however the biggest difference is the radio.
the cx2 use;s 2.4 ghz and a seperate (reciever worth £40 alone!!!) 2,4 gives freedom from glitches and being shot down by another radio on the same frequency

So if we have access to a 40 hectare field for our own use we can safely fly these helis without interference?

What if we want to buy 2 or 3 (Friend and 2 sons) - can we pop in different crystals like I have in my RC car ?
