Hi mr magoo I can't work out why either but I would try to drop the gain a little at a time but first make sure
the tail servo is centred when the tail slider is also at the centre position then work from there.

        Hey.

How have you set the tail up, in this case have you set the tail trim up by adjusting the pushrod length while in rate mode? Also have you removed all the delay in the software?

From V4 onwards the 3GX needed the tail trim set in rate mode to hover hands off, also all delay removing from the PC software before switching into heading hold mode and enjoying the model. If this wasn't done the tail exhibited a bounce back in one piro direction and an over-shoot in the opposite direction.

Defo set the tail up in rate mode. Not checked the delay in the software . I'll check that tonite when I get home.
Tail is fine turning left its right that I get the bounce

Sorry noob question what do you mean by bounce back ? Are you saying HH when you put in right rudder that the tail does not stay over to the right when you release the stick ? And that this on the bench or in flight ?

when i fly the heli in the hover and move the tail to the right the tail bounces back a little when i centre rudder stick, heli is in hh.

i've look at the setting on the software but i cant change the delay from 30 to zero

Stay in that screen then 3gx tail setup move along to 'Delay' then depending on your heli size move tail stick red led for under 500 size & green over 500 plus size left or right & watch the pc settings display go 0% which is tail stick near center.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Forgot to mention when you've got green led for 600 & setting display screen showing 0% delay release tail stick & wait for tail to set without pressing 3gx set button then it will save settings

What did you adjust 'rudder locking' down to?

never touched the locking gain on the 3gx software, its at 70% only changed the rudder delay command to 0

Ahhh.. Well that's almost certainly your problem. Older versions of software needed locking gain set very low especially on smaller helis (like 30-40) but v5 seems to allow slightly higher settings. Even so I would start around 40, which should stop it, then work up until you find the highest setting that is wag free.

FWIW on my 600 and 500 with v5 software; the 600 is ok at default Rudder locking of 70 but the 500 has to be reduced to 60 to stop the wag/bounce of the tail.
