"decent upgrade"? LOL. Chalk and cheese mate! The Syma 107g is a 3-channel toy with a fan on the tail to make it go forwards. The mSRX is a flybarless heli with proper cyclic pitch control. Whilst still being a beginner helicopter, it'll run rings around the S107g once you learn to fly it. But initially, you'll have a little shock I think about just how much more difficult it will be to fly! Things to be aware of ...

1/. The transmitter controls will be different I suspect. 3 channel toys tend to put the rudder on the right stick. On a Mode-2 proper heli, rudder will be on the left stick. You'll need to relearn a little.
2/. The mSRX isn't inherently stable (proper helis aren't!) So initially try to learn to hover with the tail pointing towards you all the time.
3/. Being single-rotor, the heli will drift left on take-off. This is normal and is a side-effect of the tail rotor. Search google for "translating tendency" to learn about it.
4/. Perseverence pays off. You'll find things tricky to start with, but practice, practice, practice!

    Good luck!

Master this first, then really look at your options. Consider getting a sim if you haven't got one already - RealFlight or Phoenix. AccuRC is coming out soon, but it's an unknown at present. Then I would look at the following list ...

      Blade mCPX BL
      Blade 130X

... bigger than that, the world's your oyster. The 450 size is a really popular next size, but it's absolutely outdoor only. The Trex450 and Blade 450x are the most popular choices. Honestly, I would consider the nano-CPX for indoor only.

There's an unwritten rule, 'don't bling micro helicopters.' I guess one of the reasons for that is you'll be upgrading it in a month or 2. Mine is completely stock and the only thing I can think of that I've broken in crashes is the landing skid - twice! Oh! and something on the head that cost £3ish to replace. I get next day delivery from Midland Helicopters whenever I need bits for other helis so no need to stock up with spares.

Batteries - I just buy / bought the cheapest in the store at the time; I don't really care if I get 4 minutes or 6. I can't advise you there, a 4-port charger is handy however.

It really is an indoor helicopter but that said it is as still as a still thing over the Channel Islands at the moment and I've had a few batteries outside this evening, great fun The nano is also predominantly suited to indoors but can handle a gentle breeze a little better.

You'd be better off outside initially - especially whilst there's no wind. You'd be surprised how quickly you use up the space indoors with this heli. Outdoors, you're likely to crash into grass/trees etc. which shouldn't do too much damage to the heli. Indoors you'll be hitting walls/TV's etc. which both suffer damage, and inflict it!

Your s107g will float away in the breeze if somebody so much as sneezes! Those toy, 3-channel helis just cannot handle wind at all - not even the large ones! (see vid below) Decking or grass - I would start outside with your msrx ....

Lol yeah after x amounts of crashing I maybe able just to hover a couple of inches.
just going to do more research on this type of helicopter and hopefully be full of information to be ready

The slippery road has just started.

Don't try hovering a couple of inches however, a foot or more is a lot easier but get it there quickly. And as Tom said earlier be prepared for it to shoot off to its left on liftoff. Have fun.
