  • Converted Twister Bell 47 - PROBLEMS!!

    Hi,

well, here I am again with another problem on another Heli )

I have a Twister Bell 47 and everytime I touched it I broke a piece off it, so I decided to change the body shell. It turns out it is not that easy so I had to:

    1. Change the chassis to a CX2 version
    2. Refit all the motors and servos onto the CX2 Chassis
    3. Change the swash plate to a CX2 version so it ligned up

I did all the above and it fits well into the new body shell. However, I can just about get it to hover and feel stable but it will not lift off more than a few inches. It is also running down a fully charge LiPo in a round 2 minutes.

My son has a CX2 and the inner and outer shaft seem to run as free as the other one but somnething is wrong. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

I hate to say the obvious, but could the problem be the battery mate, have you tried another in it by chance?

      hi,

thanks for you reply but this was the first thing I have tried. I have tried three batts in the Heli and I still have the same problem.

I would expect the motor to be binding somewhere but it seems free when I spin it by hand ?

i know you say the shafts are running free rich but it really does sound like a binding problem.especially if your getting a stable hover. try a little 3in1 oil down through the center shaft and around the swash center. or if you have non spray silicone polish.

GT85 Teflon spray from your local bike shop does a great job, plus it repels dirt and grit.

Latest update - I have tried the oil and a new battery pack but it is still the same. On closer inspection of the outer shaft they may be a very VERY slight kink in it. Its that small I can not be 100% that its even there - could this be my problem?

                  Cheers

                    whats the new body shell????

if its an aftermarket body shell could it be that its too heavy for it?

Its the Jet Ranger body shell from Leeds Model Shop - it is designed for a CX2, which should be about the same as the Twister Bell.

I did need to change the Chassis and the Swash Plate to fit in the shell though. Its very odd, it seems to fly OK for a few seconds and then justs looses all power and even on full throttle it will only make a few inches off the ground?

Latest Latest Update - I have now change both motors, both bearings (and refit with plenty of WD40), Inner and Outer shaft, bottom blade holders and guess what, still the same. I get around 10 seconds of what seems like normal flight and then it drops to the ground and stays just a few inches. I have noticed that every time I use the cyclic then moving the servos causes the power to drop even further. I have tgweaked with pots on the 4 in 1 but still the same.

Am I throwing good money after bad on this? I've only had it a few weeks!!

Is it the bin or a new 4 in 1?

                          Help...............

FLYBAR - only just noticed your respnse. What is the correct rotation? At the moment it is:

                            TOP - Anti Clockwise
                            Bottom - Clockwise

Looks about right - what do you think?

Had a similar problem on my medevac, after changing the motors, checking and double checking everything, I returned to the shop, who were good enough to swap out a 4 in 1 with a bell they use in the shop and you guessed it, of she went like a good'un.

could be your 4 in 1....
