hi i just registered this evening
I bought a shuttle plus on ebay a few weeks ago and only just got round to putting it together tonight. It is 2nd hand and came with no instructions although i downloaded some for a shuttle z. Are these the same? Doesn't seem to be much difference if they are different.
Anyway just to let you know i'm not entirely new to rc heli's as i've flown planes for around 10 years on and off. At my local club we have a variety of aircraft so over the years i've picked up a little background knowledge. I also bought a cheap sim to get the basics. I really was taken back at how tricky a hover is to do even on the computer. But i got on to it eventually.
When building tonight i noticed that i have no "sleeve" (apart from the lugs on the body) for the rudder pushrod running down the boom, is this correct or do i need to source one. Also i've noticed, when activating the rudder by hand using the push rod, the tail fins "jump" very slightly when changing direction, which to me would indicate a little play. When moving the fins by hand there is a rolling motion, quite small, almost as if it is on a ball. Is this normal, does this disappear when fired up? There is also evidence that the boom had been previously glued in place, but to me this can't be right because surely i need the ability to put more tension on the belt as it slackens through use?
Any other hints for checking a second hand heli? I've looked at all the ball ends on the push rods on the rotor head etc for excessive play and wear but all seems in pretty good nick. I might invest in a pair of new main rotors though as i have no idea to the integrety of these. Although there is little or no visible damage.
Thanks for reading i know its a story!
