  • Help me spend some money!!

    Hi there, first post time!

I have been flying a Easy Copter 2 for a few months which my wife gave me last Christmas. Loved it, and have become reasonably competent, i.e. it goes largely where I want it, and have no problem flying in all aspects. It is just about at the end of its life, and the final indignity I visited upon it was a spectacular blade strike when flying outside in a breeze.

So now I need more. I am reckoning on a budget of around about £1,000, so I am close to buying this lot:

Blade CX2 as I want to have something to tool about with inside, and to torment the dog some more.

    T-Rex 450SE V2 in a package with Futuba GY401 gyro, S9650 tail rotor servo, 3x HS65MG servo

    Spektrum DX6i TX with 6200RX

A case for the T-rex, extra batteries, balancing charger, spare blades for both.

Phoenix flight sim, which will hopefully pay for itself by not knackering the T-rex too much.

What do you think? Any way I can better spend the money?

    Thanks

Thanks Jamie, I have been mulling over this very point. 'Scuse my ignorance but what might I need a 7th channel for?

Thanks Ade, also thought about this. I have got a pretty large back garden (20m x 30m) and I feel that the smaller 450 would be okay for learning in this kind of space, but a larger one would be a bit out of place.

.....I think if you have that kind of coin you will get the 450 trex and a few months down the line you will end up just like the rest of us WANTING MORE , Id take ades advice and buy the 50 size right out and a pheonix sim . While your building you can practice on the sim and the 50 will take you right from beginner right up to 3d if thats where you end up. And on the plus side a 50 is more stable to learn on than a smaller helli and not as susseptable to wind etc. People say that the bigger they are the more they cost to repair but i ditched my trex 450 and it cost me 120 pound to get it back in the air.

                    Jamie,

What you say makes sense. If I do go for a larger nitro aircraft later on then, so be it. Presently I want something that I can take out in the back garden at short notice and hover around. 'Er indoors will not be best placed if I am cranking up a bloody great nitro engine in the garden.

My garden is very small and Im hovering the Trex 600 out there all the time. Fences and tree's focus the mind :-). Being electric, it doesn't pee off the neighbours either!

lol definatley dont be flying a nitro in your garden it will cover that area in the blink of an eye!!
nitro's are for club enviroments or at least empty farm land and sombody else with you incase of mishaps!

Thanks for all the comments - I've gone and blown the wonga on pretty much what I said initially. Couldn't really justify an extra £100+ on DX7 over DX6. Time will tell if I have made a mistake here.

Won't be able to start playing until I get home at the end of month. It is going to be a long wait!

i think u have done the right thing....

you wont be able to out fly the trex 450 for a very long time and if you've got the money... then buying this, then a big nitro is a better option if u ask me... with the flybar weights they are incredibly stable. and less intimidating and i think you will progress well with it
