  • new to the hobby from staines here...

Hello to all the rc addict guys im new here, iv had quite a few 4 channel helis and want to buy a 450. Might order the trex 450 btf for 300 pounds and buy a futaba set. Anyone had experience with the ready built trex 450 from align?

Just build your own , at least you know how it goes together when you need to fix it. Or do what I do give it to your mate to fix :
    T Rex 600 n pro, Raptor 50 ( on the build table) T Rex 500 , Nano and a Blade 450 ,T Rex 250 ( still in box )
    Aroura 9 , FF9 with specky mod , dx6i
    Oh and loads of Planks.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I am only a relative beginner but I advise that you buy a combo kit and build it yourself.
This will give you the advantage of knowing that it has been assembled properly (use the locktite) and it will make it easier for you to repair it when (not if) you crash. Make sure you use locktite on all metal to metal screws.
        PS don't forget the locktite.

Welcome to the forum. I agree with the others that you would benefit by building the heli yourself. This will give you some knowledge of how it works and help with later on repairs. Just make sure that you speak to someone that has a knowledge of helis if you get stuck. Also I would reccomemend getting it checked over by an experienced person before it is flown. It is a good idea to join a club as well if you have not done so.

Most instructions are very good these days and if you get stuck you can always ask on the forum. Are you thinking of joining a club? I would recommend joining one. The social side of flying is just as important as the flying itself in my opinion.

I'd suggest to go for it.

You WILL crash it and you will have to repair it, so one way or another you'll find out how it all fits together

However I would agree with all the above replies that an actual build will help you understand it from the ground up so to speak but if you want to just get in the air, then as my first line 'go for it'

new to the hobby from staines here...

My brother in law has just started flying helis and I talked him into the 450 pro dfc super combo. He did all the build himself straight from the align manual which is pretty good if you take your time. He found it a breeze but did bring it to me to go through the 3gx setup as FBL/gyro setup is a little daunting for a noob....but you've got to learn to understand them sooner or later!
Also watch the full finless build series on 450 over on helifreak. I found these a great help when starting out!

Ps his new 450 pro flies like a dream, so smooth and quiet!

                            Good luck

I started off with a blade mcpx learnt a little then the 130x learnt a bit more then got an align 500 efl for christmas (lucky me). I loved the build but must be honest the hardest part was learning the setup ie pitch setting and 3gx settings. But there are plenty youtube vids and help on this forum. Also had somebody check it over for me which is a good idea.

Go on buy a kit its half the fun
