Great piece of kit!!! It really does what says on the tin.

As for the argument of whether it’s a good training aid or not is a matter of personal preference. I learnt the hard way but I can see how it gives conference to new pilots.

Once again thoe what a great piece of kit! A bit tricky to get your head round the set-up of it but my god what a clever piece of tehchnology
What radio was your friend using? I have a Spektum DX6 but know little about programming them - do you reckon it could be made to work with the helicommand unit? Did your friend find the set up a lot of hassle?

            Final Helicommand questions!!

An oldish shot but here it is fitted to my raptor 50.

I can honestly say the heli never crashed once when this device was fitted. Thats the truth.

Wow! What a sexy beast! Now my new 450SE doesn't look so shiny

Final two question on this: somewhere I saw someone say that a seven channel radio makes more sense with helicommand than a six channel radio -is that true? If so why?

(Real newbie question I think I can answer but...) if the Helicommand makes more sense with a 7 channel and I chnage to one - is there any implciation for the receivers, servos etc already on my heli? Sorry if it's really basic!

Thanks all - it's a real education here.

I guess cause if your running a gyro that you can change the gain from the radio, then you'll be using all 6 channels, therefore a 7th would be needed to use the helicommand gain setting.

And yes you would need a 7 channel receiver but check your exisiting one, if you have a free channel then you're good to go.

He is using a DX7 but your DX6 will work fine as the helicommand uses its own mixing so you TX will be set to one servo normal

The setting up is easy when you know how (like a lot of this stuff!) You may need to down low the instructions in English, as I believe it comes in German.

It’s just getting the wiring right and figuring out how to program different settings using the TX stick. But it’s only on par with setting up a gyro.

                Good luck

On a plus side once set up the system is robust and a great learning aid. You will be hovering like a pro from the word go. As you get more confident just turn the sensitivity down.

Tried mine at the weekend 40 feet up and if you panic or get in trouble just let go of the sticks and it will level itself, then just throtle back to bring it down. Do not try this in the garden as you need plenty of space.

Just to end on an ironic note when I got home from the playing field I had a final battery in the garden and I clipped an overhead telephone cable. The 450 came down like a..........................
Even the helicommand won't save you from this - you will crash but not so often.

                    Enjoy

Sooren, me again! Just bought the helicommand and starting to watch the mail now. I'm pretty buzzed from what you said aboput it.

You mention the set up DVD - any idea where I could get a copy (sounds like something a newbie could do with).

                    Thanks! Deiric

Spare Helicommand 3D - anyone want it?

Long story - but through a slip up I now have 2 brand new Helicommand 3ds! Both still in wrappers - if the first one works I shouldn't ever need a spare so I happy to let the 3D go for the lowest cost I've seen on the 3A online (on Heliguy). If anyone's interested please PM...

                        Cheers
