Absolutely brilliant. It was a very calm day today and the heli was hovering almost hands off. Obviously the engine needs running in, so I will do that over the next period of time. Once the weather warms up enough to work in the garage comfortably, then it will be time to dismantle it and paint it up.
    Any pictures ?

Hi I too recently bought this helicopter. I was told it was the last one that Ripmax had in stock and that ones after that would be at least £500 more! I paid £1200 for mine. This will be the second one of these I have owned as I sold my last one in 2006 and have regretted it ever since. They have changed the kit slightly in the past 2 years. For the better? The cabin is mounted on 6 rubber cussions and the skids are bolted together with allen bolts. The only mod I have made is the connecting fuel pipe between the tanks. I made one up aout of copper tube and put a bit of clear tube half way. Still on the finishing stages.

One thing I use to suffer from was antenna blind spot. I do not want to go to 2.4 ghz as I think this will not resolve it. Just go into lockout? I spoke to Terry at SM services and plan to use his opto isolator. This runs the receiver of a seperate battery. I also plan to use a base loaded antenna.

              Would welcome anyone elses suggestions?

Hi Guys, the kit cost around £1200. Sorry no pictures yet, as I have been too keen to fly it to remember about pictures. I will try and get some next time I am out. I have done no scale work yet, but thought I would fly it as it is for the time being until the weather improves such that I can comfortably use the garage as a spray shop.

Quick observation on smell. I can confirm that as per one of the comments on this thread mentions, there is no smell from the heli to date.

                      Regards

                      Peter

I have not heard of that and it did not occur with my last one. Hope it does not with this one. It is important to put a 6mm length of fuel tubing in the coupling to act as a spring at the connection with the tail rotor shaft and the gear box? But this is in the instructions. It is also inmportant to glue the shaft to the bearings with super glue.

I will be writing an article for Model Helicopter World very soon on this model and have been taking many photos during its assembly.

I had a problem with the tail drive on mine. I found it best to put a short length of silicon tube in both ends as with the 6mm length in one end it does not go very deep into the front coupling. Mine chewed the front coupling right on the edge, so after putting the silicon tube at both ends it was fine. As stated tho' glue the bearings as instructed. I've since sold mine (20 helis is more than enough for anybody really) and the guy is stripping it down to paint it. I flew it a few times but never actually finished building it. I had one of the early ones too, which wasn't as powerful but had more character, I think

I have a Bell 47G early version with a similar engine. I got mine with a JR PCM10 so I can give you the settings from this tx and hopefully most will translate over.

I have not flown it in a long time now as I have been horribly lazy about sorting out some leaky fuel tubing and replacing the rx battery etc.
