I would have a go!
First thing I noticed is its no 3G or 3GX. The cyclic is quite decent however the tail is awful. Actually it's terrible!
I would say it's similar in performance to one of these £7 Hobby King mems gyro like the Assan GA250.
It blows out constantly even attempting mild stick banging. and even whilst sport flying. I don't think a beginner would notice.
I have also tried adjusting the De-acceleration values and the other settings available but it makes little difference.
I would rate this FBL controller 3 out of 10.
So, its back to the 3G I think.
Just my thoughts, as I am sure some flyers have been able to get them flying well.
That is just so unfair an assessment of that unit.
I have had them on all my helis - 250 through to 600 nitro and they have done very well. A mate has one on a genuine TRex 500 and he's a real stick banger and its faultless.
What you haven't done - assuming you haven't got a faulty one - is spend time with the settings. If you are prepared to spend a whole lot of time at the field with your laptop tuning the unit to your heli then you will be rewarded with a FBL unit that's as good as any. If you don't, it won't work. As for not being as good as a 3G well get real!
Mikej has posted on this thread - as far as I'm concerned he's the man when it comes to ZYX units - message him off line and take up his offer of help.
An angry posting from me and I don't mean to offend anyone but I think its so unfair to condemn a product to the world, any product, when it hasn't been given a fair shot.
BTW I'm now all BeastX, LOL - Why? Because the time I spent at the field with the laptop was getting too much, I tried a BeastX on the 250, had it set and flying faultlessly (without laptop, just tranny) in about 15 mins. That was enough for me, I was a BeastX convert!
Like I said, it turns out the rudder servo was f&*%ed. fitted a futaba 9257 and it goes great now. holds like a dream!
So My thoughts would conclude that it appears to be a great unit. Not quite as polished as a 3GX on 3.1 but very good!
