  • To those planning on buying a Vbar or similar

Would you buy it now or would you wait for something new from Spartan or similar?
The Vbar is around £230, I started thinking maybe I want an AR7200BX for my 500 but I thought I might as well go to a vbar territory.. but for that price, I don't really want to spend it then find out 2months later or so that something good is out...

There is always something good out in two months time ...

Better question is when do you want to fly it?

If you want to fly now then buy what is available now, if you don't want to fly for a couple of months then wait and see what is available then.

Regardless of what is coming out, the Vbar is still a great FBL controller. If you can wait then cool but bear in mind new units will have teething problems. The Vbar is an established brand and generally, it just works incredibly well!

I know about new things coming out all the time
        and i hate wasting money.

i guess i really just want to know when the others are coming out (spartan and or the brain) so i can plan.
Luckily i'm not that desperate as i can't even 3d and the 3gx is (to me anyway) working ok..

i think i'll keep an eye out for a cheap vbar then on here and then decide!

For me nothing is anyway near to how a Vbar feels in fight, Theres a least two new FBL units to come this year maybe more so we'll see how they compare.

Whats really important tho, is support from forums if you have a issue.
          Which isn't lacking with Vbars

Has anyone heard a price on the Spartan? My impression is that it will be on a par with the V Bar price-wise. If the 3GX is working OK for you now then the rule of thumb with tech stuff in general is that the longer you can wait the better because new stuff comes out, new revisions of the current stuff etc. Unless you see a bargain price on a V Bar that is too good to pass up.

              you cant beat experiance !!!!
If you want cheap but good buy a s/h total G .
Good and cheap new, Beast X

If you want the best buy V bar,...................

Vortex will be good but, I think its the same price ,or similar to V bar so V bar is the risk free option , especially as we cant read the future !!!!!!!!!!!!!

              Hope this helps

oh just to say imo , any fbl controller is only as good as the person setting it up :-)

                  Align 3GX

I did test hover a friend's brand new Blade 450X last weekend that we bought from Midland (cool place that store by the way! Cameron was good at helping us) and I was impressed at how stable the hover was.

I have tried quite a few FBL controller, and I found that

Vbar - flies really well, very good cyclic, paddle sim and autotrim are great

BeastX - also flies great, cyclic and tail not quite as good as Vbar, didn't like it that much on a 450 but I love it on my 600

SK720 - definitely has the best feeling tail out of all of them (as far as stops are concerned - can't do funnels etc yet...), takes a bit of tweaking, self leveling a bit hit and miss. Out of a 3GX, beastx and SK720 it is the best choice for a 450 imo

HC3SX - Self leveling - amazing when it works. Tail is also equal to the SK720 Flies great after tweaking a bit and very tunable. However I sold both of mine because if vibrations are too high it will destroy the heli in SL mode

3GX - hated it on my 450, tried many different settings for it.

This is just my experience based on light 3D flying - I'm sure others will have varying opinions . I'm going to try the vortex next - think I'm going to give the MSH one a miss.

It would be interesting to see what you thought of a CGY750 if you set it up yourself.

You have flown mine, but it clearly was not set up the way you wanted.

Maybe I should loan you one of my CGY750 heli's and a spare tx for a couple of days.
Life's a bitch and then you fly!!

The Vortex will be VBar money. The MSH Brain will be BeastX money. As I understand it, the Brain has it's origin in the early Vortex development but are not the same.

Personally, I've been using BeastX for a while and I've recently bought VBar's for my new birds. I think unless you know what your doing I would stick to something that works and has woodles of support.

IMHO the Skookum 540 unit is king at the moment, knocks spots off Vbar as far as quality of sensors, speed of processor etc.
Skookum didnt dumb down like Vbar in order to compete with the beast.
kept their calm and have come out on top.

Is that a comparison against the blueline or silverline?

Spartan told us in a post that he wanted to see what the v-bar would cost when Mikado went to a more expensive sensor. Well now they have and the cost didn't go up massively. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the next few months.

Still ain't seen a skookum that actually works yet, beatsx or spektrum equivilant is good for the money, the vortex has high expectations, maybe will be released in 2020? but the vbar at present is simply the best.
